Hearing What I Did Hear, Set Me Listening for What I Didnt

No, these are meals to be devoured, tasted, experienced, digested and absorbed. What the poet gives us is not a promise of wisdom, insight, understanding, more like a disposition, a mood, a cloud shadow. The poet is the observer scumbling, an overgrowth scolded, escarpment first responder. In Hicks'juxtaposition of the immediate with the natural, the historic with the aionic, we are led to see events, not individual populations

Aaron Mo, author of Exhalations Says of H. L. Hicks Board and Arcane Crucifunder Lodgepool Bark. Hicks demonstrates a therovian burrowing of the mind, a burrowing of 50 poems into 50 seed sentences from 50 souls oil texts from natural history. The poems burrow too into common yet rarefied encounters with the carcass of an elk, or the sun, which contains all direction, or the breathing of breathing of a fresh brushed red brown ribcage rounded coat of a horse. We readers are invited to burrow along with Hicks

Hey, I love the interconnection that this poet writes about and it's so deep and so also just makes so much sense. So I guess it makes listening to it or if you're reading it, reading it very, very easy reading. I know it's probably dense, like you said, it's not meant to be read in one setting, but from what I heard here, it just sounded very captivating

Hey. Thank you, Ty. Appreciate your comments. We're really trying to encourage conversation around these ecological environmental topics and this swell cast thing seems to be a cool new way to do that. So really appreciate your comments and your appreciation of of the review of HL. Hicks's forthcoming book here at Middle Creek Publishing. We're really excited about getting this book out there. It's an excellent collection of eco poetry and I think it's going to strike a chord with a lot of people
