Today we will be speaking with poet and licensed certified therapist and counselor Lynn Goldsmith, author of the Middle Creek title Secondary Psychiatric, who has a new book out this year

Oceans are having to absorb more heat because of us, and they are rising in acidity salinity and evaporation, not to mention the marine life suffocating and being poisoned by and entangled with trillions of plastic pieces, 270,000 tons worth on the surface and billions of plastic microfibers in the deep. In half a century, we've killed almost 40% of the Phytoplankton in the oceans. If the Phytoplankton disappear, so does the ocean world, and so do we
And that's kind of an important line, I feel like, because nature, we always think of it as the other. And I mean, a lot of people do. They think of it as something other than themselves, something other than their environment, something outside, something in the distance, something they have to travel to. But it's right here. It moves right through our cities. It moves right through us. It is in some ways our cities, and it is us

You. I would love it if my book were viewed as an invitation to explore the natural world. If it inspired people to look, learn and listen, then those activities can help create a better understanding and appreciation of the natural world that we coexist with. That can potentially lead to a better caring of what has been given to us here on Earth as a gift that we all share and
So I think that's just another reason why books like yours by Light and Hidden Matter as well as Secondary Secretrices and a lot of the work that Middle Creek Publishing is putting out has put out in the past and is putting out this year is important to that whole conversation.
