Sanders was also a philanthropist and donated much of his time and money to various charitable causes, including Kentucky Colonels and the March of Dimes. He was also the mentor to the founder of Wendy's restaurants, dave Thomas. Sanders did pass away in 1980 at the age of 90, but his legacy still lives on through his restaurants, which now operate more than 23,000 restaurants in over 140 different countries around the world.
