Which kind of speakers do you prefer?

article image placeholderUploaded by @MarkR
I had a friend come over the other day and he said to me that he thought that it needed more base. I don't think so. I've got a little den on system, a little preamp turntable audio Technica, and a couple of little Mission speakers, but they just sound balanced. To me, the base is right. There's enough detail. I don't know how to explain. It like an audio file, but the music that's coming from the speakers satisfies me

Active or passive speakers?

Awesome taste in music👏🏾

Hey, Mark, the music got me right away. I mean, I know nothing about stereo sound or anything. Only thing I know is I want some bass in my car when I'm listening to my favorite rap. So that's all I want. But very cool. Your knowledge is incredible, but yeah, I have two, like, really old speakers downstairs. Don't ask what they are, because I have no idea they belong to my ex husband, but he loves his speaker

And that was one of the songs that got played a lot now that we found out and it was rereleased when I was a teenager on Twelve Inch. So that's my copy. The speakers in the basement are probably really cool. I'm not kidding. My dad's speakers 770s got them for me in his shed. I was just reading forums about it. And people still think that they are the best speakers of all time. Crazy

Oh, I have another system downstairs. I'm trying to build the listening room downstairs. I've got a vintage Sansui 4000 receiver and some Sansui speakers that go with it. Those are passive. They're huge. They're five way speakers. You don't need a subwoofer with those. And I'm going to hook up a real to real tape recorder player once it gets out of the shop to that system downstairs

@Raretodd

But I think even with your vintage stuff, like my dad's Mission 770s, everybody loves those speakers. And when you read reviews about them, even now, people say that they are the best because they've ever heard. It's crazy. And they're from the 80s. I guess once stereo equipment is good, it's good. It really doesn't age. It's really interesting, but I love it music

Because in the old days the only time I remember seeing sub buffers was when Bose came out and they have those little speakers and sub buffers in the corner, which sounded good, but it didn't really sound like high fide to me, how does it sound with the subwoofer? I'm interested

Love the subwoofer!

The rumble is just fantastic. The song is almost over. Annoy the neighbors. The bass is not in this part. Yes, they're done with the bass for the song. See, I have a whole playlist full of bass songs. It's called Bass for Your Face. And let's see here. Let's see what's a good one. Let's try Daft punk. Crank this up. It doesn't really work on a cell phone

Like, I can't even tell the difference between streaming big bit rates. Very well. I've done the tests online where you get a nice pair of headphones and you hook it up. Well, I hooked up my computer to my stereo, and I did the test, so I've done it on headphones and on the stereo and on the stereo system. I could tell the difference, but just ever so slightly. I have Amazon Music, so I'm glad

Hey, Todd. Wow. Thanks for that. I could, you know, right at the end when you turned it up, I could hear that. It sounded solid. It's hard, isn't it? To get that to come through the phone. But, you know, you listened back and he obviously wasn't picking up what you were hearing. That was really good. Good to know. Now my speakers, I don't say vintage yet. Probably

I've asked people in the stereo shop is that it's pretty much the same stereo sounds the same, but the new ones have streaming capabilities, which I don't need because I had sewn offs bows and stuff for that in either room. I'm looking forward to it, but I think you're right. I think my speakers are vintage

I've replaced those bookshelf Orb speakers with the qacoustics, but I still have the Orb subwoofer, and I've got a Class D mini amp also by Orb Audio. That is really nice, actually, it does the job. Well, if you're satisfied with your missions and they put out enough base, then I'm walking back my talk a little bit here. Maybe you don't want to get a subwoofer because they might put out enough base already because they look like floor standing speakers

Reviews of other people who have similar set up to mine say they're brilliant, and I think that's what you've got as well. Yours are bookshelf, and you said it sounds better. The Mission brand is a British brand. My dad had Mission 770s in the 80s, and I'm not kidding. Like most people who ever heard these speakers thought they were the best speakers they ever heard

It looks like a UFO, and it's one 8000 hundred dollars, but I want one. I'm not going to get one, but I want to experience it first. And I read a couple of I saw this review that you're paying more to impress your friends than anything else because of the looks of it, but I'm curious to hear them

Well, they've been out for a couple of few years now, but I people still seem to love this speaker, and you can look them up. The mission. Qx. Two people still seem to rave about the speaker. It gets great reviews

Hello. Hey, How's it going, man? So thank you for that. I will check out the thing. What is this thing? Sell. I will go and check that out. And yeah, they're bookshelf. This is them. Now. I it's not leaving me wanting any more base, but if it gives it more sort of like depth without becoming booming, then I will like it. I don't know if I could borrow one

Mark, I really hope you like having a subwoofer if and when you get one for Christmas because I'll feel so bad if you invest in one and and it turns out you don't like it, I will feel somewhat responsible, but I don't think that will happen. I think you'll enjoy it. What else was I going to say? It's the Singh S y ng speaker. It's an all in one contained thing. It's not a bookshelf speaker. It stands on

I've been tweaking it, turning the crossover up, down the volume a little bit. But it does sound good, man. So I'm pleased, I'm happy. And it's a much more upgraded system I'm listening to. Real separate, really good. So I'll put the link to the amp and the sub so you can check it out a little video. But yeah, I'm happy. So you didn't have to worry about me being disappointed at all, man

All right. So I know you can't really hear it here on the phone, but it definitely sounds different, man. So, yeah, spent a lot of money, but really happy with it. It's funny because I was happy with it before, but now I'm really happy with it. It's funny, isn't it? Once you start listening and thinking, could this sound better? I guess you're always going to go and change things

Hey, Mark, what's going on? That's great. You got a subwoofer. Your life will never be the same. That's a bit of an exaggeration, but I'm I'm sure that you'll appreciate it, and it was an honor to be part of the journey, as you say, and enjoy it. I don't see any upgrades in my stereo system in the near future because I just got some equipment repaired

Ceapaudioman and John Darko YouTube audio guys

Something else. Mark, you sent a couple YouTube videos of the subwoofer brand. You sent those along. I watched one of them, and that was really cool. If you're into audio file YouTubers, I watch a couple of them that you might be interested in. One of them is the Cheap Audio Man. And I'm walking right now. I don't have time to post a link, but if you just search YouTube, you'll find the Cheap Audio Man

Oh, man, that's like my dad's 77 is you don't need no, definitely didn't need any base thing with that. All the bases coming from most vehicles now that real, real to. I haven't seen one of them since I was a kid. My dad used to use dual turntable. I don't know which model. So very cool. And like you all now that I need is the CD player to go with this to Tribute
