The jeweler had written three Hebrew letters on the gold band Gimil, Hozayan, and Yod, which began the words Ganzai Yao. This too, shall pass. At that moment Solomon realized that his wisdom and fabulous wealth and tremendous power were but fleeting things. For one day he would be nothing but dust. That is the story behind the phrase Gamze ya avor, which is Hebrew phrase of the day GAM. It means this too shall pass, and I love this phrase

I love all your posts because they always bring the ancient into the modern moment. And I guess in this story we want to connect this phrase to what we need to remember over today. And Gandhiyavo, for me, is helping remember that urgent desires sometimes shouldn't distract from bigger ideas. If you get obsessed with one thing and you really think you want it, it might be really the thing that's holding you back from the other thing that you really would be happier with
Thank you for putting this in the context of distraction, because I think that's really important to bring up. I think often when people hear the phrase this, too shall pass, they're thinking about either the future or or the past rather than focusing on being present and being where you are because nothing is ever going to pass. If you're not paying attention to what's happening, it's just going to prolong the inevitable
