Favorite animated films

article image placeholderMy Neighbor Totoro
So let's go ahead and do that. I will start us off. These are in no particular order. These are just movies I'm fond of. I really don't think that I could rank my favorite animated movies because there simply are so many I enjoy. But the first one that comes to mind right off the bat is Kubo and The Two Strings

TNBC, Wallace & Gromit, Toy Story/Monsters Inc

Hey, Leora. Great list. I love so many of the films that you mentioned, especially Ponyo, such a cute film. I just think it's so wholesome in terms of my favorite films that are animated. I have a wide variety of answers, but I'll try to give you just a couple. I'm definitely one of those kids that grew up being obsessed with The Nightmare Before Christmas. So that has to be on there

Run Chicken Run, Monsters Inc, forgot to mention Lilo & Stitch!

The Ghibli movies. I love the Ghibli movies. I actually only recently got into them, but I love the jibli movies. The very first jibli movie that I watched was how was Moving Castle? And I think that will forever be my favorite. My close second to House Moving Castle is probably spirited away. And I also really love Ponyo. That is actually my husband and I favorite and Kiki's delivery service, my neighbor Toro. I don't know. They're all just so good

The Jetsons, The Flinstones, Up, WALL-E

I did not plan on seeing up, but the summer I lived in New York City was quite a lonely summer for me because I didn't know anyone. And so I spent most of my time going to the movies. And I'll be honest, I was pretty broke because I was an intern and I lived very far out, like all the way out in the Bronx. And so it took a while for me to get to the theater

My favorites aren’t for kids

It's detached from what a marvelous visual interpretation of every Hollywood quest, every screenplay that's ever had. Someone looking for something important. Tokyo Godfathers is an anime I watch every year at Christmas, which is the harrowing story. And yet at the same time, a farce about three outcasts from society, an alcoholic, a runaway and a transvestite who find a baby abandoned in a dumpster on Christmas Eve. Clearly not a movie for kids

Wreck-it Ralph... and some rarities...

Secondly, the Hobbit ranking and best in animated version of the Hobbit, which is not totally faithful to the Tolkien books, but the music, especially was so catchy, so fun, so light hearted and totally not appropriate for Middle Earth. But I have a big fondness for that animated feature

@Tim *industrialization not consumption

But watching it as an adult, it's a different experience because it is visually beautiful. And that adds to the impact of the message in my mind. Thank you for pointing that out. I think there definitely is a distinction, and I have loved hearing everybody's answers so far. So please feel free to continue sharing if have more to add
