Not able to own my Power. Help please

They raise all the alarms and throw a fit and escalate the issue to the top bosses and say, things are not working. You need to come in, step in, and fix these things. But then right after that, I immediately felt guilty that, oh, have I brought down the morale of the team by admitting that there are issues that need addressing and all of it

And so you're not the direct target of anything they might be upset about and if they are, you sort of have the boss backing you up. So it's not as I guess maybe the focus isn't entirely on you, but now that you're in a lead position, then things focus on you and end with you and there's a lot of pressure there

@LG90 Give (imo) give it time :)

Another thing completely assumption based from my side, as women, we are taught to accommodate, always think about others, then think about yourselves and most of us do this alone. We talk about things in retrospect, right? We don't talk about things as they are happening. So the only conversations that we are having about the situation are with ourselves. So when we do that, even all the good things that we've been doing get colored in this grimy little, I suppose, conditioning walla frame

@Binati_Sheth You’re the best :)

But having said that, now I feel like, yeah, maybe I should have put my foot down and maybe I should have raised an even bigger cry because I wouldn't have liked to be in this position that I'm at. So I should have confronted those fears and let my brain go into the dark side and imagine the worst and then try not to try to prevent it

@LG90 - discomfort is necessary for growth. Denying others around you from discomfort is denying them the chance to grow. I also recommend this book

They can work harder and get to where they want to be. There's no point in being resentful. Now, that being said, one last thing. Congratulations on your promotion, and I hope you do really well and wish you all the success in your new role

I'm just putting it out there that oftentimes we need to get to the root cause of why we act the way we do. That we feel isn't always the best way to be in certain settings. But I do see, and you mentioned it yourself, that in your role of employee under your boss, you are a perfectionist, and you take on more work. I imagine that means you also take on more stress and just have learned to live with that

You have to use it and in case somebody is not doing it, show him the proper way of doing it yourself, so that he is ashamed of the fact that you did it very well than him and make him feel that it could have been done better if he would have put his mind into it. So being bossy and being the role which has been given to you, you have to get the work done. Your targets are there, achieve them by hook or by crook

@LG90 : the real deal

But where you want to do is you want to look at modern management styles, look forward, and the hardest thing to do is to develop a team which is self accountable, self auditable. If you can make the team realize self realize that they ought to do this, raise the bar of their deliverable, and you can inspire them rather than extract information, extract a performance, inspire them. So if that means you need to raise the bar yourself, then that's what you do

It. Wow. They were pretty great. Thank you so much for your response. I wish there was some kind of bookmark feature that I could pin this answer reply to and keep revisiting. Really nice advice. Thank you so much. I'm actually going to be keeping it in the forefront of my brain and try and remember to use these lessons in the future
