The Importance of Having a Body of Work

article image placeholderUploaded by @LegacyComix
You have to give people things that they can read because people are going to maybe people are going to love your fiction. Maybe people are going to be bigger fans of your nonfiction. Maybe people are going to like your video game stuff more than they like your comic books. Or I'm in voice acting, so maybe people like my deep English accent or my inner world. One man, one tortilla, that deep baritone

Bravo on that, Patrick. That is absolutely wonderful. Yes, you have to get that body of work. The biggest challenge I think a lot of people have is just starting. I think at some point, you just got to start. Whether it's just grab that pencil and write something, draw something, hit record, start typing, or whatever it is, you just have to start. The sooner you start, sooner you have that body of work. Definitely good advice

100% when you start having a body of work right there's another advantage right there, which is a back catalog. We prepare for. We prepare unconsciously prepare a back catalog, which is incredibly helpful for that moment when you do get recognition. Because when you get recognized for your work, once, people are going to to look you up and when they look you up and they find nothing or they find just one type of thing which is not a bad thing
