My unveiling... Why I decided to remove my hijab.

You have the Sheila, which is just like a long scarf that kind of wraps around. It's kind of loose. It's comfortable. I like that one. Then there's the NiCOB, which is the veil that covers the face, but the eyes are visible. Then you have the shadoor, which is a full body cover which opens. You can see her eyes, her nose. You can even see her lips, but her chin is pretty much covered

I just want to hold this like a beautiful offering to us as those who have grown to know you and even love you and respect you. What an amazing journey you let us into. It's very much appreciative of what I just listened to. Thank you so, so much. And Salam Alexa

I could have gone on for like, ten minutes and talked about so many different aspects of it, from just how people who don't like Muslims treat you as opposed to people who are Muslimly, how they treat you and all these different elements. That just so much to just like, soak in. And you're just like, wait a minute, wait a minute. Why can't this just be a simple thing like this is just me expressing my love for my religion

In fact, a lot of things that I've learned about women or just maybe life in general have come from female friends. So I think it's cool that you don't conform to what is maybe an expectation. I don't think really it's an expectation. But maybe if it's something that is sort of suggested that you're not conforming to it. And I think it's cool that you want to be different and unique. I too, strive to be different and unique

Wow! Such a powerful testimony. 🙏🏾 @LadyO

Wow. Opie, this is as a person as your sister, as your friend, all that. This is such a powerful swell. And I never I'm so mad. I never knew that. I never knew that you felt like that. I never knew that's what it was like. I don't even think I recognized or knew that you still follow the faith. I just thought maybe you do the whole thing out, but, wow, this is really powerful. Thank you for sharing

@PKBriggs thank you sis

His male friends appreciated me, and they became friends with me because they knew they could talk to me about anything. I mean, finding a wife when your wife doesn't want to have sex anymore. All this stuff, they knew they could talk to me, they could relate to me. And he never had a problem with that. But it was one of those taboo things that you just shouldn't talk to him in about. As a woman, you shouldn't talk to men about sex

On a deeper level, I feel like emotionally women can be there for each other, but I feel like on a deeper level of mental connection, I have it more with men than I do with women, because as you said, if I want to understand the way a man thinks a woman can't teach me that, she can't tell me that she can't enlighten me as a male friend can

To be honest, that's the extreme. That sunken place to be suppressed and depressed as a spirit. You are spirit and you need to express yourself at all times and just to be free is just a wonderful thing. And I'm just so happy that you are expressing your true self and breathe. I want you to always breathe and don't let anything suppress you. I'm a very free person and I teach freedom and I teach raw spirituality and raw spirituality is just freedom

@Enfinit Freedom is peace within

And I was owning who I was owning, where I was owning, all the experiences bad and good that I've had in my life and just recognizing that I can take all that I have all that I am and help other women. And so that's what I do

Not to say those that were of a job don't feel that way. But the customs and standards of what is to be expected of a woman in certain Muslim cultures, aspects of Islam can be a bit old fashioned, and it's cool to see that you're kind of remixing a bit of obviously you're strong in your faith, but you still have other aspects of you as well. I don't know

@FryedOreo true love is acceptance

Hey, Duan, that's a very good question. Actually, I have thought about that a lot because you will. You know, I have met guys who, you know, we talk about religion and they ask me, oh, you're a Muslim, and I'm like, yeah, Muslim. They're like, oh, but you don't cover. And I explained to them that's my decision and it's between me and God, and that's just the way it is
