Toxic work environment... Put up or shut upđ
Hey, swell family. I want to talk about toxic work environments. I'm dealing with that right now, and that's why I really haven't been on Swell that much lately because we are so understaffed and and overworked and absolutely exhausted. But there are a lot of things that are happening within my Department that I see that I don't like

And for me, like it sounds like for you, for me, it's just I spend as little time with those folks as possible. My interaction is very minimal, always civil, but very minimal, so as not to give them a floor or give them opportunities to continue to suck the emotional life out of me as they are around. And you often wonder and often wonder and sometimes in more bolder places, depending on what I'm doing

And so that's all I can give them, because I can't do anything else for them. Like, I can be your support system. But I don't really want to hear the negative talk, and they love to say, oh, you should be in this position now. No, I should be exactly where I am because I have other goals and I have other dreams. I have things that I'm doing. I'm working on. This is just a secondary

That is, I think your feelings are valid and I think you have every right to feel how you feel because I, myself have dealt with that sort of same thing in my very last job prior to landing the job that I do now. But again, I will respond later and I hope that your day is well, professor, 42 out. Bye

They're in a different place than you are, but yeah, you don't want them to be dragging you down. Thank you for this. This was really helpful for me, because I'm actually dealing with this a little bit, and I think we're all on some levels. I think the Pandemic has made some of this even more obvious in work situations, but I thank you for this discussion. It's always a good one to be reminded of and to buck up about

That's what you get paid for. So just get to it. But thank you so much. And I'm glad that this will inspires you to actually speak and say something. And I think being a team leader always helps. And as a team leader, you can change the environment. But you've got to get everybody in the right mindset. And that's what I try to do with the joking and laughing and making it fun

Everybody's dealt with this sense of entitlement that there are always people that come into jobs feeling that they deserve more than what they have and don't understand. They have to work for the next level, and they actually have to prove themselves. As you says, put up or shut up. There's also an old phrase of Bloom where you are planted. So you are planted right here. Please Bloom. And if you Bloom, guess what? You'll get noticed

So I think that that's one really big piece. I think you really hit the nail on the head. I guess you could say with regards to a toxic energy that some people put out. And I think that's just going to be in every work environment that you're in. There's always going to be someone who wants something different but has to do what they're currently doing. What type of schooling and continuing education are you doing?

And during that time, some of the things that you had mentioned, where people are sort of toxic about who makes what, who gets good benefits, who does this, who does that? More often than not, I found that that usually comes from the people that want to do the least amount of work but get the maximum benefits

We just have to figure out where it's coming from and how we're going to get it and show the world. I always tell my kids they complain about global warming, and they complain about this pandemic. And I'm like, hey, I have three kids. Either one of you could be the scientist who comes up with a cure for cancer you might find invent something that could help the polluting oceans. This is what life is about

Thank you, professor. 42. Yeah, I worked throughout the entire pandemic in the office and scared to death because I'm sitting here and, you know, as working in media, working in the news was seeing all of these holes in the ground where they were just literally doing mass burials all across the world and thinking to myself, oh, my God. If something happens to me, I'm leaving behind three kids. Their father is not here
