Do you have friends in poetry?
During those years, when he was translating FAIS, he was trying to figure out how to get the gazelle, the Urdu form, to come gracefully into English. And as part of this project he became the proselytizer of the gazelle in the United States. He invited many, many of his friends, including me, to write poems in that form. And he assembled a wonderful anthology of gazles in English that he had himself commissioned
You. Hi, Katharine. Thank you so much for reading this out for a couple of reasons. Once, as you know, I'm a big fan of Faz and Akasha Heidali and the work Professor Ali did in translating Farz. And I have grown up a lot of the poetry and guzzles all my life from my parents who used to listen to it. That was the background music of my childhood

Past nine, it raged on, ever hungry, unquenchable thirst. I didn't care. This was new. This was my first. And at last, having consumed all that was and is vanished, and I begged for more. Crying, please. Now the fire extinguished and new life within the earth is found. The passion turned to ashes. But the friend, she's still around

Catherine, thank you so much for this question and for sharing this incredible story and how people are affected by it and it stirs them. I didn't know the God of Small Things was a line in this poem and of course, the title of an incredible novel, Byron Dati Roy. And I'm just looking at it, I pulled it out of the shelf to make sure I wasn't imagining it. So it's amazing when you find the source of other writers inspiration
