And over the years, Sri Lanka has benefited from IMF and World Bank aid. But I guess the loan repayment was just too large and the amount of public debt was just not serviceable. So the Indian government has now decided to extend a billion dollars worth of aid. But the Roger Baksha government is now refusing to cede power. So this could very well be an Arab Spring type of moment for Sri Lanka

I have two friends in Sri Lanka, both of whom are members of Toastmasters International, and I have a friend who is living in Cork now who comes from Sri Lanka. Other than having had conversations with them, I know very little about Sri Lanka except about cricket. I just thought I'd let you know from Cork in Ireland. I'm a user of Swell, and I'm very pleased that you put something up, because what I read in the newspapers here is not very good news

Hey, Karan, thank you for posting this. And, yeah, here in Los Angeles, I don't read headlines of this, so just depend on swell to let me know what's going on the world. Can you explain a little bit more about your comparison to something that would look like the Arab Spring and who is leading that charge and what do they represent? And who can we support even through social media

So what's happening is that he's centralized the government and there is very little dissent in the country that's being tolerated. So they started something called the war on drugs a couple of years ago, which is similar to what happened in America. And this served as a great way to discriminate against my minorities and people who work in the unorganized sector, as it were. So these are people who migrate from towns and cities and are from different parts of Asia

You're going to be witnessing some of the stuff that we've seen in other Pardes of Europe, some kind of strife like that happened right there down south of India. It's going to be a really sad state of affairs. That's where this goes. People with the lust for power. I mean, it's very difficult to get them to see reason and step down. Instead, they try and form alliances without others who will help them maintain that power. Right

I don't know whether it will be contained in a particular part of the country or whether, for example, the streets of Colombo will be riddled with bullets. But also when you say this phrase, which sounds very attractive, which is that whenever people come together, good things happen. Well, I could as easily reverse that. And I think of good things happen for some people, but okay, I keep thinking of Ten Admin square
