Dementia- how to deal with a family member that sufferes with dementia..

article image placeholderUploaded by @Kamryn_1017
I don't even think she even really knew who I was, so I was crying and everything, seeing her, but I just wanted to see if anyone has any advice or tips on how to deal with it because I've never gone through this before. I feel like I'm just watching my grandma slowly fade away. I hope anyone can help, but yeah, I just wanted to do this because it's been bothering me since I've seen her

Hey Cameron. So yeah, I'm currently also dealing with similar situation with my grandparents. Mainly my grandpa, he's going to be 99 in October and you know, I went to visit him lately me a couple of weeks ago and my aunt was like just like a warning. I know you saw him back in March for a lot of changed since then someone visited him and it's just so crazy how six months he went from being able to speak to me and yeah

So keep being a good grandkid and offering the love and just keep talking about this stuff, because the more you talk about it, the easier it's going to be to deal with and the more people you'll find do have family members who they are close with who have gone through this, and they can offer you some good advice

Thank you, guys. Grace, I'm sorry about your grandpa. That must suck. But but yeah, I didn't expect my grandma to look the way she yesterday. Like, I was expecting her to like to meet us, show up in her heard is for yourself. Just like talking and just telling stories that we've heard multiple times before over and over again. But it wasn't the case yesterday

Hi Cameron. I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. You are being president and supportive and I think that's really the majority of what you can ask for in that situation and I think that's something you should be proud of. And once again I'm just, I'm sorry to hear about that. My grandma actually had Alzheimer's and I just remember seeing her start to forget my dad and my grandpa and everything like that

And I know it sounds kind of crazy to say to search for that, but in moments where you're really feeling down, it can help, because the person that you experience, the person that you love is there. They're just kind of locked away in a cell, if you will. And I know that in my grandma's final moments, as tough as they were for me, I was providing some sort of peace for her just by being there and supporting her
