The First Album You Bought?

article image placeholderTrue Blue (35th Anniversary Edition)
Vinyl was being sold, but it was sort of giving way to cassettes. And a lot of stores would sell cassettes in these really weird elongated cardboard cartridges. And I'm actually even surprised that I remembered that because these are things that they just don't take up room in your head anymore decades later. But yeah, I remember the weird cartridge having to unwrap it and unwrapping the foil and that rush. And I remember that summer really distinctly as well

You Wanted the Best! #music #firstalbum. @JLMcMillan

Well, it started early on Elvis, but I didn't buy any of those then Kiss, then Black Sabbath, and then just pretty much anything and everything, because that was, well, music was my life. And then that's how it all started with me was buying a Kiss album. Kiss concert, then Black Sabbath. But Kiss was a major part of my childhood. I even had the Kiss trading cards

Naughty By Nature!

The first album I bought, I want to say it was Naughty by Nature, and it was a hip hop Hooray album. I played that song to death. Hip hop array. Oh, wait, that's girl, that is not your mom. That's just somebody in a black car. Do you know that person coming out the car? No, because that's not mom. Where's Mommy? She's at home

Good one! @FryedOreo

Thank you for that awesome reply. And for the laugh. Little kids are the cutest. I have one that's pretty little. Not quite that little. That's adorable. Just trying to figure stuff out from patterns. But anyway, yeah, naughty by nature. There's really strong memories for that one. And I had that on cassette. Single. The cardboard version for Op, the one with the sample of Jack Accident Five on it. It's still a good tune

@tjh

Hi, Trevor. I love the childhood you describe. It sounds a bit like mine. I was five, six years old when I was playing records on my little Toy Turntable. I specifically remember my David Bowie 45s, and it just went from there to having a cassette player with a mic so I could start making mixes and DJing and doing little bits in between with animals as my guests. And then when I got the double deck cassette player. Wow

All Over the Place

I caught this all girl group and Leonard Nemoy was one of their music videos. I recently went back to YouTube and watched the video for Going Down to Liverpool. It's terrible. The other song off that LP was Hero Takes a Fall. Both Hero Takes a Fall and Going Down To Liverpool are solid pop hits. Their harmonies are really tight. The music videos pretty terrible and yet. And yet there's something about an allgirl band that up and coming that intrigued me

Love The Bangles!

Tim, thank you so much for your share. Awesome, awesome, awesome band. I love the Bengals. It was only maybe three weeks ago. I picked up different light finally from my local record shop. It was a really great rate condition, and it was pretty inexpensive. And I listened to the whole thing cover to cover. And I loved that you mentioned going down to Liverpool because I remember that now

First 45 First full album and First cassette. A 3 for 1!

And I think it was because it was the first album I actually owned and probably played it millions upon millions of times, just one of my favorite albums and not really sure why. Other than it was the first album that I ever bought. Then in 1983, I graduated onto cassette tapes and I went and bought my first two cassette tapes of all time. Together I bought an older one and a newer one at the time. The new one was ZZ Top Eliminator

What a wicked set of tracks!

I don't think I watched the end, but I but I don't really remember exactly what you said about what happened. So I'm going to try to erase that part and go rewatch it. So thanks so much and have a great Monday. Bye
