I've been studying surf rock over the summer and I even encountered Bird is the Word, which has a lot of covers, famously The Ramones and even that song is based off of the Duop original by the Riving Tins. And so it's one thing to appropriate a sound, and it's another to claim some kind of cultural heritage to it. I find that so obnoxious
