so many ways to feel nostalgia

article image placeholderUploaded by @isabellaa
It's so crazy thinking about how many different ways you can, like, feel nostalgia. I get nostalgic all the time, whether it's from smelling something that takes me back th to fourth grade or even listening to a song that I haven't listened to and I completely forgot about and haven't listened to since it came out. And it takes me back instantly to that time in life. That's so just crazy how little things can trigger those memories for us

Oh, I just love the topic of this swell. I just reselled it. Hopefully we'll hear more voices. I I go to the beach a lot, and every once in a while I just it smells a certain way and it reminds me of growing up and the beach beach near my house and the sounds of the seagulls remind me of just it was a little dirty growing up in Ashbury Park, New Jersey

But like, nostalgia also kind of makes me sad in another way because I know today, if I were to play Pop Tropical Wizard 101, it just wouldn't really feel the same. Especially because as we grow up, the games grow up as well. They kind of developed. If they're still out there, they're definitely not going to look the same as they did like ten years ago. But I really love nostalgia

So there's this one kind of fruity smell from a face wash, the first face wash I ever got as a teenager. And if I smell it, it takes me back so hard. It's so crazy, your brain just suddenly is there. Or like a peach lip gloss that I wore when I was twelve. I went to summer camp for the first time and I wore this peach lip gloss and I was always listening to Weezer

@isabellaa: Old, dilapidated buildings…

When I visited my grandmother's house and she had this grand staircase, it was German architecture up in Detroit, Michigan. And so they always built homes with these very large wide staircases. And we would oftentimes play there, we would oftentimes take pictures there. And so every time I visit a place and I step on a staircase or I walk into an old dilapidated building and smell the odor of this older structure, it takes me all the way back to my childhood almost instantaneously

I'm so glad you brought up fall, cause fall's kind of a big one for me. I remember, like, just very clearly being in elementary school, probably in kindergarten or first grade, we would have half days for I think it was like right before or maybe on Halloween, we had half days or right before our Thanksgiving break, we had half days and my mom would come pick us up

Like, what a trip down memory lane. Now, ever since that was almost two weeks ago. Ever since then, I have found that it's like my spidey senses for nostalgia. It's like there it's very rare that you see any blooming plants around this air base that I'm on. But we have a few ladies that are very good with their gardening, and they've managed to have, like, little potted plants and whatnot and green thumbs
