In praise of Nicolas Roeg’s "Walkabout," which just turned 50

Racism and slavery about was received in kind of a controversial way in Australia because it didn't subscribe to that erasure. It worked to really renew international interest in Australia's cultural and geographic identities. But it led with the Indigenous people. And I think that the influence of the film is felt just throughout the next 20 years of Australian New wave films, many of which were kind of looking at Indigenous experiences

I saw it in high school, and I had a great experience with the film. I thought it was incredibly eye opening, but the journey sort of stopped there, and I feel like this is probably a good it sort of indication to me that I should pick up where I left off, and I think Walkabout is a good film to start with. So thank you for sharing this, and I will definitely be checking it out. It's
