Creative Writing Tip #1 from Readomania

article image placeholderCreative Writing Tips from Readomania
As for everything else, good beginnings go a long way, including impression. If you are able to draw in your audience the first go itself, you will actually carry them forward a long way. And hence it is important for you to put forward a very strong beginning. Preferably a very good punchline to begin with. That is so intriguing that it draws the audience. That was it for today. We'll come back more tomorrow. Bye

First lines!

Thank you so much for this. I loved hearing this as a writer. I'm always trying to learn and improve my craft. And I love that you were talking about beginnings here and first lines because I think they can be really tricky. And I also know I can overthink them sometime because it feels like it's such an important part of whatever you're working on. Right? Like that first sentence is either going to grab your reader or not. So I loved that you brought this up

First line does not a book make! @NamelessJournal

I think if someone really worked hard on the meat of the book, maybe someone doesn't like the first line or the first paragraph, but they'll get to the second or the third and then they'll flow through if the story calls to them. And those are my obnoxious thoughts. If you know anything about me on Swell, Bowie will tell you that I tend to take the other point of view. But anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts

My 2 cents

It has to be inviting enough to hold their attention right away, an invitation that's too hard to refuse. And I also think that the first line in other book does say a lot about the authors voice and style of writing and talking of compelling first lines. I just had to bring up Kafka's metamorphosis. So the first line of this book goes this way. As regard Ramya woke one morning from uneasy dreams. He found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect

And Shanas, how could you forget the very first? Well, that we both connected on. Yes, it was indeed my post on the first, you know, the best first lines in the book. And I am linking that. Well, right here
