The Daivya Sutras

And now, these days, what is happening? People say youngsters do not read mythology. Youngsters do read about magical mythology. If you were to trust those long serpentine queues outside waterstones, or W smith in London at 04:00 a.m. In the morning where people are earnestly waiting for the stores to open so that they can grab their first copy of Harry Potter

@MonaVerma A question around the Vedas and the Puranas

While some say they are not related, there are others who argue that they are identical and complementary to each other. What are your thoughts on this?

The Daivya Sutras

So the four Vedas that we have, the Rigved, Jajuve, Sam Verma, Ratar Ved, and the 18 Mahapuranas and the 18 Uppuranas that we have, they differ in two ways. One is that when it comes to the Vedas, the Brahmans, they have written about various commentaries on rituals, on ceremonies, on the religious ceremonies. They've discussed meditation, philosophy, spiritual knowledge. And some scholars also add a fifth category to it, which are the Upasanas, like the worship

The people who wrote them down are far removed from our times. Perhaps they have their own agenda, their own context for these stories, and we cannot simply assume that they were totally unbiased. So how did you deal with this aspect as you worked on your book?

And this voice would resonate with the mindset of a modern, strong thinking woman who owed to the society to write rationally and logically and not wrought in any lala land because it is not permitted. It is happening to see extremely promising and powerful voices that are coming forth. They don't hold back and they don't even let the publisher also throttle their voice. I mean, it's like my way or the highway

Thank you so much for that. Mona I would love to wrap up our conversation today by asking you your thoughts on this trend of books inspired by mythology. Where do you think readers are so interested in these stories now more than ever before? I would love to have your views on the enduring appeal that these stories seem to have across generations

The Daivya Sutras

When you read all these stories, you realize one thing that our Sanskriti, our Indian heritage, it is ancient, but it is not obsolete. The stories are very sensible stories and they address all the emotions that we humans have. As they say. We have the nine Rasas, the Sringar Pai, Santariya VI, Ramya, ABDOT and the others. All those Rasas are addressed in these stories. And the Puranas have an enchanting story for just about everyone. So they are like a treasure trove

The Daivya Sutras

So when I tell people that mahabharata was a battle of individual scars and intentions and personal words, they believe because I have a backstory backing. Everybody's intent and everybody's action. Thank you
