@Howie question for you!

Hey, Howie. So after I woke up, I checked swell saw that you posted this. So I went and did a little bit of reading and I have a question I'm not sure if you know the answer to it. My understanding is that Pfizer is going to make take this free to all US citizens. Now, the question here is if the stat that I saw is correct, roughly 13% to 14% of people living in the United States right now are not citizens

I have not Googled. I have not looked for the articles or anything. I did get the email the headline that, oh, Pfizer cover vaccine is 90% effective. The other question I have is what trial is this? Because I've been following this. Right. So there's the Astrosonica in the UK. There's the Moderna trials in the US. Is this Pfizer thing part of the Moderna trials? What vaccine is this? Is this an mRNA vaccine? Is this a traditional vaccine?

Hey bookish. Here is a link to the Guardian article that I read, and, you know, full disclosure here, and I think you know this, but I'm no medical expert, but my understanding from what I have read over the last hour is that 90% is actually way better than they expected for something like this

Hi Taylor Bookshop I can't answer your questions, but I think that this is a really great start. Obviously, the virus is spreading at such a degree that we need to be able to stop the that as soon as possible. And hopefully the federal government and our testing agencies will make sure that everything FISA says is 100% accurate. And this means we are very close to a cure

Thanks for that article, Taylor. I read the whole thing looking for what the mechanism of function of this vaccine is, and it took me all the way till the end. This is what the moderator trials were working on. The messenger RNA. A. It actually changes the genetic code within you. So now you're producing these proteins, which your antibodies attack the proteins you're producing and going from there? I don't know. Anytime you're going to change a genetic Cole within you

So I'm not so sure whether there will be special clinics for this vaccine or not, because I doubt they can really roll this out every pediatrician and GP office and expect them to have storage of -80 degrees. So this is going to be a tough one, I think to solve for will be good to see how people solve for it if they decide to roll this out

My cousin is participating in this trial.

Then they'll go back and tell each person you received the vaccine or you received the placebo. And here's the real vaccine. So he really has no idea whether he has that or not. Now he has a past in clinical research. He's in the Raleigh Durham area, and he said he read everything about it prior to signing up for the trial, and he said he didn't have any concerns with that. Now I Echo Sudha Shannon's concerns about having the messenger RNA

Thanks to everyone and great user of @Swell

Just wanted to say a quick thank you for creating this thread and for the information conversation discussion about this new vaccine for this virus. A really good conversation, very informative. And this is a great example of how audio in a social setting, in a conversation vocational setting can really make a big difference. And thank you to everybody for your contributions. It's helped me understand how this vaccine candidate might work

I was just wondering if someone could clear something up for me. So a few months ago, the common narrative seemed to be that a vaccination would take twelve months years to develop and then roll out like twelve months minimum. I think that was what they were saying. So I'm just wondering how these vaccines come about. And if anyone has any more information on that, that would be really interesting

But given the amount of money the governments have pumped into it from, our companies are also putting all their efforts into ensuring that they're have the necessary scale for production should their vaccine get approved. And this is what I know of the current vaccinations that are in the process and pipeline. I hope this is helpful

@sudha thanks so much, really informative

There's so much conversation about whether people will or won't take the vaccine that it's hard to ignore. And the reason that I point that out is not to get into a long conversation about all the reasons that a person wouldn't take a vaccine. I think that's the separate thread

Have here on another conversation about the same subject. Maybe you will get a little more information on that as well. I'm linking it below

Aaah! mRNA. The light bulb flickered and went on!!! @ErinBeaver

They open up this double Helix just for a little bit in the spot where they want to translate this DNA code. They translate the DNA code. Okay. And they translate the code into messenger RNA. So that's where the mRNA comes in. Because the RNA itself, it's a code that came from the DNA. But if you already start off with the messenger RNA after the messenger RNA is used, ask my question, what happens to it? So here's what happens

I'm leaving you to stop believing everything
