Tech question

I contacted a bunch of musically backgrounded software guys that I knew that I used to work with, and they concluded that you really couldn't do it because there would be a lag time that would throw musicians off. If it were a question of a couple of nanoseconds or whatever it was, the beat would be off, and musicians would not have a good experience. They couldn't play in rhythm

Can this be done?

However, I'm sure you have been in enough FaceTime and Zoom calls to know that that transmission is really lag is really potentially minuscule. It is sub. Second, so if you are comfortable with jamming with your friends on Zoom or FaceTime, you can definitely do better than that without the video stream with just the audio in an app. And there are a lot of real time communication apps out there that try to bring this about

Hi Suda, thanks for the response. Just for the record, I'm not a musician. The only reason I was interested in this is because I read a couple of seven or eight years ago about the size of the music industry and how many people actually own musical instruments and how often they play. So I thought it would be a fun thing if they could get together from location to location and play. I thanks again for the response

But definitely, as Sugar told, there are Time lags that doesn't bring a brief but still a non professional friendly use. You can still use that to do, like jumps
