Celebrity vs Civillian and Talent

article image placeholderUploaded by @GeorgieDee
But mine was in a sort of dusky pink color, and it's silk chiffon over a peppermint satin slip dress, right? Exactly the same style. I grew up in an era where my mother taught me how to sew, and then I learned how to make my own clothes. It's a great skill that I did into occasionally. Anyway, that's not the point of my conversation. The point of my conversation is celebrity versus civilian

Can we have some commotion for the dress

Dendam. Here's the outfit. Sorry it's not full length. I'm not really a fan of people taking photos of me. It was actually I was signing the registrar for my two gay friends, Stuart and Paul, who were getting married in Australia before the the referendum signed off on it being legal. So they got married at the British Consulate. Isn't that interesting? It was possible because in Britain it was legal. Fantastic. Yes. I designed this outfit myself

But anyway, it's interesting to see how many times a neurodivergent type character is the main character of whatever piece of entertainment that we are watching or consuming or at least lean in that direction. Not that there's distinct lines or boxes or anything, but it's interesting that, like, for the most part we want conformity in the way that we relate to one another but we want non conformity in our entertainment

But again, that was like a microcosm of the world because people couldn't touch me or see me because there was a barrier. Then they can put you on a pedestal and go, that person. I don't know them, but they're doing something that's talented in their opinion, and I'm going to adulate them for it anyway. It's complex, but fascinates me how'd you like the dress. Can we have some promotion for the dress?

@GeorgieDee Blind to the challenging of conformity that already happened.

I've heard other people who are nervous about urgent describe it. What's fascinating too is there's something called the double empathy problem. And it's usually only spoken about with respect to autistics and holistics, those who are not autistic about there being a difference of how one experiences and expresses empathy and that there's a lack of understanding. But I think we see this in all sorts of places, not just between those two groups

@SeekingPlumb Wary of Homogenisation

And this is the one thing I love about making friends at work, not that we catch up outside of work, although she's invited me to her house many times to see photos of her grandchildren, is that we're forced into being open to more things than we're normally comfortable with. I like that about that situation. And I suppose travel does that for us as well, experiencing different cultures

@GeorgieDee

Oh, my goodness. Absolutely, 100% guarantee with you. Like, if I related with only a particular group of people, oh, my goodness. It kind of makes me think of, like, alone in my head. I can think of lots of ideas ideas and come up with lots of conclusions or scenarios or whatever about whatever it is I'm thinking about. But they're not challenged. They're not pushed. They're not teased apart or anything like that

@SeekingPlumb Play the Bitch card

But yes, I have altered Maryland's behavior somewhat. So one of my types of humor that I love to do with people that I adore and trust and we have deep understanding and communication is play the b**** card where we abuse each other. I know this sounds terrible, but it's not. It's so much fun. It's like what siblings do to each other. We tease each other and none of it is genuine. All of it is ingest
@SeekingPlumb

@GeorgieDee

I don't know how that happens or when that happens or what, but I like it. I wish I knew how to somehow what's the word I want transmute. Like I'm creating alchemy of some kind of like changing the words to mean something so beautiful if that can fit in the same sentence as things like that a lazy b**** and so on. But it is. I don't know how that works. It's fascinating. I like it

Though I try not to be judgmental, but I know that the subconscious in some way or the other, that does play out. So in that sense, I love connecting with audio, through audio, rather. And I noticed that I am able to connect better with a lot of people as well. And coming back to the original question that you have raised about celebrity versus civilian and talent, I have also wondered about how mediocrity is often celebrated right

Who wore it better, keshe's mom or Georgie D? Georgie D, of course. Yes. Let's have some promotion for the dress. I'm a hominahmine. Hey, do you have any Bob Mackie in your closet? I'd love to see that. I'd love to see you model some Bob Mackie

the new denizens of Olympus

I mean, it's sad that we then turn to our office mates and our coworkers and friends say, don't behave out of the ordinary because you're rocking the boat. Don't question the status quo because that could upset the entire apple cart slippery slope into chaos. I don't know that's the reason. But yeah, it is interesting that by and large our culture gives leeway to fame that I don't think is particularly justified

@Tim Celebrity & Pop Music & Labels

There's a bit of a hypocrisy going on there, or an Oxymoron or a Dichotomy, whatever you want to call it. And I've been talking to this group of people for a while about clothes and fashion and sustainability and the planet and labels and trying to impress them with the idea that you can actually look amazing without following design and imagining that it's only good if it's made by Valenciaga or Gucci or whatever new fashion label they're into

And I do wonder about those creators or artists or fashion designers, whoever it is, who just haven't quite gotten the same traction, the same influence, the same popularity yet. And I hope that people don't get discouraged or stopped creating because they don't get the movement or following that famous people do
