Why do criminals waive their rights when being interrogated?

And for I do gooders out there, don't speak, seek counsel immediately, or they will ascertain all that information for you, and you possibly won't have to be behind a jail cell

Information is power. #truecrime #interrogation #reidtechnique

And it's funny because even when aides do say, hey, I want to lawyer up, the detectives, they're real slick and trying I thought that was a gunshot, but maybe it was. But they're real slick when it comes to redirecting the conversation to you giving up information, right. They're really good at okay, if you want to lawyer up, you know, that's your right. I mean, that is your right. But there's always a but

If you say, I guess I need a lawyer, that's not enough. They'll say, So you're saying you need a lawyer? And I'm like, okay, because we'll stop the conversation right now. We'll stop the conversation right now. When you mention that lawyer stuff, we can't talk anymore. I can't tell you the stuff I know. And that's how they get you

@FryedOreo anything you say can be used against you!

You know, I feel like this should be a public service announcement because I've just seen too many people get burned by this. And the Miranda rights are right there. They say it. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. And I've seen people that are completely innocent of everything, you know, describe a situation to law enforcement

But, yeah, you have to be very careful as a detective and how you handle a suspect, because you can lie to the suspect would be suspect, among other things. But you have to be careful in how you interrogate them. But yes, the prosecution, they have a high success rate in terms of, as you said, 90% of their cases are solved due to those who are charges against them not understanding the laws that they have, even though it is Miranda's for them
