Imitation vs Stealing

article image placeholderUploaded by @FryedOreo
You see, those who imitate replicate in order to duplicate the results. Whereas those who steal, picking something, some aspect of something. But they are putting their own impression on it, their own spin on it. And this is what makes them great. Whereas those who imitate, they're good, but they're in a sea of many. So I say to you, although it may be easy to imitate, it is always harder to steal

What does The Artist in you gravitate towards?

I choose Neither, you can only be you or can you? 🖤😂 @FryedOreo

Good morning, Dewuan. You're funny. It's harder to steal. I choose neither. I think I can be. I want to be motivated. I'm motivated by people, but I don't want to be anybody. I don't want to imitate you. And I certainly don't want to steal what you've done. I don't want to replicate what you've done. I just want to be me. But the best me I can be

Stealing from an artist point of view @PKBriggs

But to steal that style, it's a lot harder to do because you would have to kind of understand certain fundamentals of beat making in order to reverse engineer his beat and understand how he came up with this medley and how he tuned this sample a certain way. So when you come out with it in the end and you do it this way painstakingly, you are in fact, learning more about something, and in turn, it will change the way in which how you do something

However, that modeling that we ingest, formulates and produces some more sense of authenticity. Because as I take it in as I watch that model and I describe it and ingest it myself, I add a bit of authenticity. So the results are slightly different or progressive or maybe not even as astounding. But it is my view of that model, my interaction, my response to that model. I have to have a response to that model. Stealing is not resembling any kind of model

This has become a fascinating discussion. Thanks @WeddedPath

Yeah, but I guess I come from hip hop culture where that's like frowned upon. But of course, invariably someone has a style that they're stealing from this and this and this, but it's their own unique thing as well. Thank you for your response

I would say the school of, applied or inspired in your example. 😁🙋🏾‍♀️ @FryedOr

Hey, DeWine, thank you for that response. I'm gonna have to say I respectfully still disagree with you. So this is the thing you use so many words that were, in my opinion, more accurate to what, what you were. I guess you're trying to ask here. So, for example, when you think about impressionist painting and people who are impressionist, they are influenced, right?

I have to make this a podcast now! Lol @PKBriggs

And for me to be inspired and influenced is like a summation or duration of time of things where I could say I'm inspired by Kanye West, but it took me many years to realize that we're in the moment. I was just taking stuff from him and from someone else and then someone else. And I'm putting it in this Gumbo pot and there you go. We got this idea. That's exactly how my mind process works. I'm taking from here

Yes a Pod for sure! 😁 @FryedOreo

Thank you. I look forward to listening to that podcast. I look forward to listening to that. And I think, I think ultimately, I mean, they are right. Some finites like some things just mean what they mean. But for this and I can say there is a creative dialogue or sparring session with sparring probably even sounds too much then with art, right. The artist conversation, there's just going to be all these different vantage points that people sit and have these perspectives

Masculine/feminine energy with creativity. @SHAN-NORMAN

Whereas Pharrell and Kanye were like, you can feel about it however you like. I just think this is dope. I was influenced by what they were doing with their fashion, but I wanted to do it a different way. So I kind of developed this sort of masculine like energy in terms of how I wanted to get those ideas to express. I think the way I expressed it was a feminine energy. But the spark of the idea, the Ember of the flame in my mind was very masculine

Imitation might be something that can be done by mistake. I mean, yes, it sounds very, very awkward meter saying this, that imitation can be done by mistake or there was no intention option of doing it. But yeah, it is not always just to do bad things. Sometimes you need it so that the front person don't get hurt. But stealing is like it is totally a sin. No, I'm using that word
