According to Urban Dictionary, gatekeeping is defined as when someone takes it upon themselves to decide who does or does not have access or rights to a community or identity. There's a lot of this that goes on on social media, and I'm always curious as to how people perceive gatekeepers. Gatekeepers are, in a way, experts and experts. Although we trust in their wisdom, it does not mean that that may apply to you, especially when we're talking about identity. Right?

Look at the way it's defined. This is social media. I've heard some people say it's not. It is. And if you are here, and if you are an active on here daily, you are putting your hat in the raffle box of Discoverability. You are. You just are. And in accordance to Discoverability, sometimes you have to play the game. Or actually, most of the time you have to play the game, but you can play it by your own rules

I do wonder if if redlining, redlining. I wonder if that was a form of gatekeeping, protecting the community, protecting its identity. Identity. But to be honest with you, I think gatekeeping is needed if it's being used, and I guess if it's being used in a correct way, I guess that can be quite debatable, right? Hey, I'm gatekeeping this.
