What Happened?

article image placeholderUploaded by @Wuandurful
So you all have incentive to come up with an idea or two when you're on here. But to me, a bomb is when there's no replies on your post. I don't care about the likes and reactions and s***. Nobody's replying, and it's dead to me. And most of the time when I look at the staff post, it's bombing. It's them talking to each other. It's like you all don't do that enough

Can Swell Get It’s Groove Back? #swell

I feel like it's helping me in some personal development areas where I needed to kind of get to a different place and learn my voice and appreciate how I'm delivering stuff. I figured out that I say right a lot, but it's time consuming. So right now because I'm not usually using any social media on even a weekly basis or a monthly basis. I don't really do it

Trust me, I’m the boring one @JeriWonder

My notifications used to go through the roof, not just for my post, but if I responded to someone's post, that person will respond to the post, and maybe someone else will respond to what they said, or I said, and there's just this networking of Carnival going on where it just doesn't seem like that's going on anymore. It seems like most swells on here are just dead on arrival. And maybe that's the intention. So maybe I'm the boring one

I have spent a lot of time today just surveying the platform and listening to Swell and listening to the conversation because if there are multiple speakers in the conversation, that kind of extends the amount of time that you're dedicating to that one topic and then my responses and just finding that I'm really OCD about my responses. I'm trying to beat the clock all the time

Lol, you’re valid @JeriWonder

But those are some great examples you gave, and I still kind of want to sadly feel that people are just not interested in what Swell is having to offer at least the people that I knew anyway. And maybe people just naturally are just so engrossed in the experience of speaking and audio that they probably don't even think to listen to other posts and respond to them as they're just kind of on here to promote something or plug something, which I am doing as well

@Wuandurful

And people really miss that. And I think that people are tired of Zoom, tired of being online, and they are wanting to enjoy in person communication again. I think that has a big impact

I’m beginning to understand what’s going on here. Lol @kimestryarts

All I can say is that I love to speak to myself most of the time and occasionally to others. So with that being said, it's what I plan to do more of here on the platform, even with it falling off as I like to see it, I still think to some degree the app has fallen off in terms of activity swag enthusiasm. I just kind of just don't feel the energy in the post that I do here out there

buying you a spiritual coffee ☕️

I think there was a lot of buzz with south by Southwest, a lot of new people coming on and a lot more diverse topics. But I don't think the people talking, we're getting engagement. And so they left. I don't buy the idea that because people are getting vaccinated and socializing again and going back to work, that they don't have time for social audio. For exactly the reason you said that for Introverts, the world has not changed

Let’s see what happens. @Tim

But again, I want to stress that I don't have lack of engagement here. I probably consistently my last 30 posts on here have got engagement. I would say 27 out of 30 posts have got engagement. So it's not ever an issue of me per se, but it's of the app itself and getting engagement and activity. And I just see it as waning to a certain extent now, maybe this could change in three more months. Let's see what happened then. Right

So that's where I'm at this weekend, and I'm noting that since I've joined a lot of my weekends go into just participating with the platform and producing swells. Not so much right now. I'm not really focused on the social aspect of it, and I'm focused on learning the platform and kind of deciding what my goals are in using it and creating my greeting and things that are fun and interesting for me

Some more theories. @JeriWonder

There's a lot of engagement here. A lot of people are listening to a lot of posts. This is often stated again and again and again. It's just that some people don't feel a reason to engage or are unable to engage or just don't have the means in which to engage

All Metrics Matter

So listening to just the replies as opposed to your original post, I kind of felt like it was cheating to do that. And again, being used to the platform. I'm like, oh man, I don't know if I ever want to listen because there are ten responses in this conversation or six responses, and they're all this long. So I find that looking at the metrics is affecting my participation because how much time do I have to give to this one conversation?

I see you! @JeriWonder

This is not to say I was getting a lot of responses, but a lot of people were just posting daily stuff. A lot of people. But now it's just a few. But this happens with every app. Every social audio app in particular is just going to be time. It's hard to do this consistently. It's very hard when this happens on Facebook, you make a post, no one likes it, no one comments. You don't really think about it too much

@Wuandurful perhaps it is a pandemic app

When I saw this post a couple weeks ago, I thought, you know, to me it's the pandemic, like as soon as it starts to lift, many things we were doing to fill time when locked down will no longer be as strong. And to some extent, like social audio is a pandemic thing. You can talk to people without having to talk at them. You know, you don't be in the same space, potentially many other places

And 1!

And I agree wholeheartedly with everything that you just said and got quite a chuckle from how you delivered your message just from the song all the way to the ending with the Mattel shout out, so all the best to you. And I will check you out later for sure. Bye

Thank you @topgold and @JeriWonder

As I was pointing out to Bernie Top Gold, it's changed to where it kind of is picking itself back up. Dare I say I've responded to some posts out there like people, I don't know. I can't remember the last time I did that on Twitter because it just was so sad and boring. The content that was out other, but it's good to see new blood in the midst. And yeah, swell kind of is picking itself back up
