Happiness?

Is happiness. An escape from suffering, or an acceptance of suffering

Is it acceptance or escapism of suffering? #happines

Trying to define happiness

Maybe just sort of, like numbing and flat and accepting the suffering would make it seem like you're actually more aware of what is like, what the suffering is, and that would be worse to accept it, like joy or optimism in thinking that you could somehow end the suffering or, like, solve, I don't know, to do something that would result in less suffering and even whether or not you can, there's some happiness in the fantasy of it

Just my 2 cents!🙏

Hey, great question. I would look at it in this way. Escapism is the tendency of the mind to basically seek distraction and relief from unpleasant realities in life, mostly by seeking entertainment or indulging in fantasy or engaging in things that you love doing. So I agree that in a way, escapism can be a key to happiness in moderation, of course. And as for the second question is happiness the acceptance of suffering. I would word it a bit differently because I think suffering is what enhances happiness

I appreciate you @tacobell

I know there's a lot of scripture out there a lot of stuff out there where people are talking about that you should not feel anger, you should not feel sadness. That's impossible. You're a human being. You're not a robot. You are not a machine. You are engineered to experience all of these emotions

Amazing answers @NamelessJournal

Ramya nameless Journal. You did not answer my question. You dominated the question. I appreciate the responses. Answering the question is totally how you see it. There is no wrong answer. Never. There is a wrong answer here on my account. Mark my words. Well, if you do say something wrong to me, then that's a whole other thing. But back to the matter at hand

Amen to all of this

I love everything you're saying. I love everything everyone saying on this thread. I think you hit it pretty much. Happiness is both. Happiness is accepting reality. I don't think the people who are truly happy are the people who are in denial about their reality. And if they are, that's a very suffering happiness. Happiness does mean accepting the reality for what it is

The I looked like an l

In XJ. I'm not sure where else to post this, but my best guess is that your username is actually based on the Myers Briggs Personality Test or referencing it, and that the X is somewhere between thinking and feeling. Let me know if that's the right, that's the right direction

Dopamine chasers. @StunningNBrave

I think ultimately you have to manage and accept the fact that it's there. Once you accept that it's there, you manage it. You manage the bad, the negative emotions, because it is kind of steering you in a direction towards somewhere you might need to be later in regards though, to the humor and kindness in the partner that's definitely great traits and attributes to look for. And hopefully you can find that I struggle with the kind part, though. I think good

You nailed it @tacobell

Hello, Taco Bell. Thank you for responding back. Yes, that it. The I does look like an L on the Internet. A capital I. It's kind of weird they wouldn't have the you know, as we learnt in school as kids, the I with the upper cross and the bottom cross. Lower case. I has a dot, but maybe with the Internet. I don't know. That is kind of interesting why the eye doesn't look that way online, but anyhow

Gratitude, peace, and environment

And that's why there's so many indulged people who are unhappy because they never they didn't earn the place that they got to. If it was handed to you, you expect it. And I think managing expectations is a huge part of happiness as well. If you're spoiled rotten through means that you didn't earn, then you're just going to expect to continue to be spoiled rotten

We may come to accept terms in terms of our reality, our surroundings, the people around us, and we may choose to accept them and be happy. But if those circumstances involve suffering, ongoing suffering, escapism may not really constitute happiness. So, yeah, a difficult question to answer. But I would stop here by saying Happiness is a matter of choice, whether you choose to stay or you choose to go away, whatever keeps you happier. Thank you. Be happy

My kids are everything! @StunningNBrave

And it can seem boring for most. Like peace. You mean I'm about to go to the club. I'm about to get toe up, but there they are, back where they started again. After that time, nothing's wrong with going to the club. Don't get me wrong, but it seems like the things that bring us peace and a sort of stillness in life are the things that require the most effort and work in life, as you stated. So. Yeah

Is happiness for you, an easy choice? @Pratima

So ways to work on happiness and the choices we make in which to find that happiness. I guess we have to be careful with where we are making the choices in determining something that does make us happy. And in the long run, does it do us any good? So in terms of the uncontrolled substances, usage and intake, it's made a lot of people happy for a long time, which is why a lot of money is being made off of drugs and whatnot

Hey. Hi, Yao. So while it's not very easy to get Indian names, right, but you come quite close. My name is Pratima and thank you for your comments to start with. So I thought your question was happiness for an average person. So I would want to keep people with mental health issues out of the discussion for now because I think there are a lot of challenges there, and it's good not to generalize

Never stop working for it! @Pratima

Pratima. Hopefully that's a little better. Thank you for responding again. And I found that commercial. It was good. It was short, too. That's what I like. It's like you almost knew what it it was that when you said it was short, it kind of relieved
