Blocking perspectives πŸ€”

article image placeholderBlocking People On Social Media Is A Sign of Egomania
And one day I'm on my Facebook, which is by most counts, most accounts private. But I do have my posts public most of the time. Yeah, that makes perfect sense. Right. And here's this guy commenting on a post of mine. He didn't say anything offensive, but there really was no reason for him to be on my Facebook. I never advertised my Facebook on Anchor. You would have to kind of dig and find that sort of information

Peer reviewed?? #toxic #boundaries #energyvampires #selfcare

Personally, I find this article and this claim to be extremely unhealthy and very narrow minded because it is extremely important that in our lives, apart from internet, to establish healthy boundaries with people. So when people are toxic, when they are throwing so far away that we don't need to accept, we don't need to listen to we can set a boundary there

Not evolved enough to handle onslaught. Must lean on tools.

Okay. To be fair. Later in the article, they do talk about the block button being used for good. They also mentioned how 71% of young people are less rebellious, more tolerant, less happy. Other talk about our needs to fit in be accepted, our tendencies to compare. But we humans have not evolved to a place where we are capable of receiving the onslaught of the quantity of those things on a regular basis. Like to face one bully, even two or three

Love your passion! πŸ˜† @SeekingPlumb

Partly it was to find a picture to talk about this topic, and partly I genuinely did want to see you what information was out there. So thank you very much for responding. If you have anything to say in response to my response, I'm more than happy to listen

Self-regulation. Equip the youth with knowledge & tools? @Dewuan

I often wonder, like how effective it would be if we implemented classes, say middle school, high school, about things like boundaries, addressing the way that we tend to compare ourselves with others, the importance of broadening our Horizons, keeping our minds open to different perspectives. I mean, according to the Social Dilemma documentary, these apps and websites are designed to do more for our psychology, to hack the way we think

Yes, the young need to be mentally In tune now! @SeekingPlumb

But if you're following somebody and somebody else replies to their posts that you didn't respond to, you get notified. That's when I do have a little bit of an issue, it's like wait a minute. I didn't even respond to this. So yeah, but that's a whole other matter. So yes, we do need schools and just to help with the youth in general about the aspects of social media

Some of my acquaintances and even old friends have really gone off the deep end just posting nonsense. And they're actually on my page and several of my other friends page as well. Just trolling. That's all they do. They're trolling. They're looking for an argument. They're just speaking nonsense. And it got to the point where I came to other conclusion that I'm not going to bother with this anymore. I don't want to read it

The good and bad of trolling @RCGooner2002

But one can easily highlight other Democratic candidates who have been for certain policies and reform that I would say goes towards the Blacks in a negative way. But I'm not really into politics all that much. If you can tell. What I will say, though, is that you should exercise your right to block, even if it may be that you have a certain bias. We all do

Thanks for the input @MerelyHuman

Merely human. Thank you for partaking in this swell where we're talking about blocking perspectives. And I am of the belief that it can be a little bit unhealthy to always to be around like minded people, to always be around people that make you feel good, because sometimes and I find this to be particularly true. Sometimes when you come across people you don't like and you can't block them and you respond unfavorably. It's almost a shadow part of yourself that you're just unwilling to acknowledge

I have some questions for you @RobbinMilne

Because I generally would like to know why this person is the way they say this person is. If I were to come across that there have been a few times and I found the person to actually be cool. And I actually got in conflict with the people who were like, you got to choose a side. And I'm like, well, we're adults. We're adults here. It shouldn't need to be that way, but you only have to go that further into politics

#real

And from what I'm learning and been experiencing, especially lately in 2020, that a lot of platforms, they don't go out of their way to really help with monitoring that or assuring people or members that harassment and racial slurs or whatever it may be, harassment won't be tolerated

Gray areas of perspective @brandyjoy

So when you throw all that in the cauldron of what I do on social media and you mix it together, you can have scenarios where I can be labeled a troll, which I have. So there have been people that blocked me, other have never spoken with me

I blabbing on hope I made sense

Versus I'm not here to scoring you or do anything, but I got nothing. But for the most part, she knew which ones to keep open and which ones to close. You can shut down your messages. And when she would say stuff like she was certain things, you could not comment in it. I'm like, well, what's the point? If this is social, you know what I mean?

Blabbing part 2..❀️

Like, you just automatically think because it's one thing when you say as if I'm sitting here saying that these are awesome people, and they're this and they're that and it's another thing when, well, if I don't vote for this person, who the h*** else can I vote for? Here you go and hope you do what you say you're going to do. You know what I mean? If that makes sense

But thanks for listening to other audio. I appreciate it very much. And thank you also for appreciating my perspective
