Small talk is better than No Talk.

article image placeholderWhy Small Talk Is a Big Deal
Small talk, just that phrase alone can send a lot of people into a panic. Rage can start to build, the blood starts to boil, and you you instantly think of many situations where you encountered someone who just started approaching you and talking to you about frivolous things that were not meaningful to you in any way, shape or form. So you conclude after many interactions of this nature, small talk is stupid. I want more meaningful, deep conversation

Yes .💥

We're waiting for a concert, and we shot the s***, as we say. And his daughter is now 23, and I've been her Goddaughter for 23 years. And he's one of my dearest friends. It evolved because we had the space to connect at a very chitchat level. And then a friendship emerged. So that's the first thing that has changed since I'm meeting David 25 years ago. Is everyone looks so busy. You don't want to be rude

Connection is connection. @DBPardes

Think of those oddball quirky topics that most would never consider in their grand scheme to shout to the mountaintop about other political affiliates. I like to kind on to be that alternative channel that occasionally, when you turn to it, it actually has something decent on that's all I strive to do. But thank you for engaging within the conversation with me today

@Dewuan - Intent sets the stage

Like, for example, there's those awkward moments on an elevator when the other person almost seems obligated to fill the silence with meaningless small talk that has no intent on going any further than just filling the void or filling the silence. They're not speaking with you because they're having a conversation. They're speaking with you because the silence makes them uncomfortable. And so it's almost like they're using your presence as a distraction

What’s your type @Raelah

We all been in variations of small talk, but I always find it interesting when people assume I know the score for the sports game, and I tell them I don't and they're always shocked. They're like, what, you don't watch sports? And I'm like, no, not really. I watch the analysis stuff after the game. I find that more intriguing than the actual game itself. And, yeah, that can create different levels of conversation

@Dewuan You got me pegged. :)

I think whether we intend to or not, a lot of us operate on initial assumptions and make very quick judgments about the person that we're approaching. You mentioned before that you have more of an athletic build and that you are talk and you may wear some. I think you said you might wear athletic clothes, or maybe you said you didn't

Personality is so fascinating to me. @Raelah

I'm a dater, so it's very fun having combos with women who know a little bit about it, but most are just coming kind of like, I don't care for that stuff. They just pass it off as like some astrology. If anything, they're more into astrology, so that's always a fun convo to be had as well
