Guilty.

article image placeholderUploaded by @Wuandurful
After less than 24 hours of deliberation, the jury returned the verdict against Chauvin, finding him guilty of seconddegree murder, thirddegree murder and seconddegree man slaughter and the death of George Floyd. This is pretty historic that a police officer on camera has been found guilty of murder. You have to understand how rare this is

A new day has dawned in American Justice. #chauvin #georgefloyd

Hey, everyone. Thank you so much for that post. I think all of us are just, you know, glued to the verdict. And it's truly a historic moment. And I hope that this brings in some really will change in policing and true reform. I do believe that justice must be served equally, whether you're police or you're just other common man. And murder is murdered, order, irrespective of who commits it

Thank you @sudha

So yes, we have to as an American nation, find different ways of policing. Look to our neighbors, look to the UK, look to Canada. I don't think they're having all these involved police other don't even carry guns, some of the police units. But that's a whole other subject for another day. I don't want to get too political here, but this is pretty wild because I was expecting the worst, honestly

@Wuandurful Thank you

It is a big deal. It's a huge deal. And the reason I believe that is that I just got finished watching a reporter say that they talked to people within the prosecution team who said that they were not sure. They were very uneasy whether they were going to be able to get a guilty conviction or not. This is after what we've all witnessed

There's also deep sadness that when we use the phrase systemic change, whether you're the President or the vice President or the family, it doesn't mean it's going to happen tomorrow, this systemic change. But we know it has to be system wide. There can't be loose, big Swiss cheese holes. We need all the branches of government at the local levels to be connected and aware that there's a check and balance system

Thank you, @Phil

And yes, they may have repeat predicate behaviors, but they still are human beings and other still should be treated as everyone else, at least until the court, through due process, decides the ultimate fate. And I guess there's a whole conversation to be had there as well in terms of reform and the way how our law system works in the courts and all that stuff. But anyway, the naysayers out there, I understand where they're coming from ends. This is only the beginning

Deborah, thank you for taking the time out of your day to respond to this. Swell. And yes, the need for policy reform is ever so proud, present and felt within law enforcement and police officers and how they subdue would be suspects. This resisting arrest thing should not result in murder, especially when the person has no weapon and they are handcuffed. There should be no reason at that point in time that they should lose their lives if they are handcuffed

And that video is seared in my mind, especially when Floyd called for his Mama. And you know that the people watching the nine year old that testified all these things had an effect on the collective psyche of the nation of the world. And I am glad that the jury was able to see through what the defense was trying to do and bring about adjust verdict. This is good for the country. It's good for the future. And as many have said, the work has just begun

Thank you @Rayga

I want to say the young lady's name was 15 years old, shot four times by police officers as she was holding a knife. And other story is coming out more and more of what actually took place. And sources are saying that she actually was the one that called the police there, and it was two girls that were trying to attack her, but she had got the knife from them. And of course, more facts have to come out

Yes..social media is bringing accountability and reform

And somebody filmed that as well and led to his arrest and led to members of the black community coming into the neighborhood and sitting outside his house and saying, Are we not welcome either? I actually welcomed that. I thought that was great. If he's going to be intolerant, then let's call him out on it. But that's other power of social media right now, and I really do think it's bringing accountability, and I think it will bring reform
