Can people mistake Sarcasm as trolling?

article image placeholderHas Social Media Changed How We Use Sarcasm?
But when it's just text, some people can get thrown off into the sarcasm. The jokes. I would say that's probably what really kicked off the memes and why a lot of people don't get them. The things that people say is fake news and disinformation. A lot of people are laughing that people are buying into it. Now there are certain things where I guess there is differences between, let's say, sarcasm and disinformation

@SeekingPlumb

My introduction to sarcasm. Totally thought they hated me. 🤣

Okay. This wasn't done line. But it's like, the perfect example of trolling versus sarcasm. And okay, so in grade eight, my family moved from the city to a rather small mall town type area, and I made a new friend, and I was visiting at her house. Okay. I didn't grow up with sarcasm. So this was completely new to me. Anyway. Her dad comes home from work or wherever. And he says, what, you're still here

Painful story, but funny! 😆 @SeekingPlumb

What an awesome and fun story at your expense, of course, unfortunately, but such is the way of life. Yeah, that is common to hear year now. Anyway, I'm guessing he never knew that you were hurt by that. So that's unfortunate. And unfortunately, you were a victim of sarcasm. Indeed. That's interesting, though often when you are one who is fluent in sarcasm, you have to explain yourself a lot to some people because they just don't get it
@SeekingPlumb

😆 Haven't let me live it down. Sarcasm in my day to day. @Dewuan.Is.Soft

No, it was just with a topic that was not let go that we laughed about a lot over the years, and her other would still say the same things to me when I'd come by. Do I use sarcasm now? I do use it, but not that frequently. And I think maybe it increases in use when I spend more time around people who are sarcastic

Thank goodness you’re kind! 😰 @SeekingPlumb

This is very true. It can be hard to decipher. I like to feel I've gotten better with it and definitely be me being a part of the meme community and all that sort of stuff. You kind of get keyed in a little more more about what's going on. And I think a lot of the times as well. It's having the information behind something, having information behind something. It kind of makes it a little more clear as to what's going on
@SeekingPlumb

Context. Power of words. @Dewuan.Is.Soft

But sometimes it doesn't take much. And those words can fly out. And the damage that can be done is, yeah. Maybe in the comfortable my own home when I'm having a conversation with my cat, you know, and I'm talking about someone. But those moments will remain private

And then I have intentionally use my sarcasm to hurt where I made a statement that I agree with. So I believed Juan's ugly. I don't really believe you're ugly, but I'm just saying for sake of argument, Juan. So if I believed you're ugly and then I stated, but I stated sarcastically and I delivered a message and I back away by calling it sarcasm. So thinking plumb. You're right. I mean, there is a lot of power in sarcasm

I'm kind of a little lost here, but I know I wanted to say, this is a great swell. This is a great topic to discuss, because a lot of people are sarcastic, and I'd like to know deep down why they use their sarcasm and how does it benefit them or does not benefit them?

Some of my best friends talk the most shit about me. 😆 @bookishpodcast

And they're like, no, I was just messing around, and I do think there is truth in jokes at times. So yeah, I definitely can sense that with people. And I try to stay away from that sort of level of sarcasm. I usually am attacking an idea, like a concept. I will, like, really Butcher other idea because it's like, no holes bars then because if this idea or concept offends you then good

Language is exploited via sarcasm to great effect often.

I typically don't do this, but you asked a question, what is sarcasm? That's very there's a very I mean, of course, we can look at the book and see some definition. We can look online. But sarcasm is so nuanced. There's so many layers to it that I don't know, but I think it is a thing some people do. I would say most people don't do, and some people do all the time

An apology, nervous giggles and a new -- no TWO new goals! #2 NO mic breath

Whoo this is a good topic, and this is something that's tripping me up on swell, actually, because I have a rule. Thank you for the link to the article, because that's something that I'm looking into as someone who relies on humor a lot, just laughing at my own jokes. You usually it's fine by me, but I have a rule about that on social media. I do not make jokes

Elements of Sarcasm with Social Media. @Brooke415

And everything was so literally black and white that sometimes they didn't get the sarcastic jokes. So when I got online, it was like people spoke my language. It kind of was like the same feeling I got when I would watch Saturday Night Live as a kid, it's like, oh, these people. They get my humor. I could joke with these people. So just some perspectives to add with sarcasm, at least from my experience
