Making better Swells: Speak loud and clear.

article image placeholderUploaded by @FryedOreo
If you are using a smartphone, more than likely your microphone is on the bottom of your phone and it probably is on the left side of the bottom of your phone. If you're an iphone user, be mindful of these things when you are making audio post where you place the phone as well when you are speaking is just as important

If no one can hear you then you won’t be understood. #swelltips

Question & Thank you🙏🏾@FryedOreo

Hey, good morning, Dewuan. And thanks for this so much. Also, I would add you can when you're speaking, you see the little voice levels go up and down, and that lets you know if your pitch is coming in evenly. I don't know about clarity, but whether or not you're being recorded in the audible height, that's the right word. You're the audio man. Also, how are you connecting these external mics?

How external mics work for iOS devices and such. @realbriggster

Yeah, it would be kind of a scary thing to see that there was no peaks, which has happened to me before, but that was because I had forgot that I was using an external device to record my audio, and I had my microphone unplugged to which we arrived at your question. External microphones. What are these? These are external microphones that connect through peripheral of your device, which is the Port in case of iphones. The Port at the bottom

@FryedOreo Thank you 😁

I think I was just because sometimes I like to hear myself when I'm recording. So that's what I was thinking. But yeah, you're just saying, like, the standard kind of earphones with Mike's? Nothing. Because you said, sure. That's what you're very good, Mike. So I was wondering what. There's some device that I wasn't aware of. All right. Thank you. Bye

You’re speaking about the advanced world of audio recording! @realbriggster

This is what will enable you to natively be able to hear yourself while you are recording. But for me to demonstrate that better, I would have to do a video to demonstrate how that would work, but yeah, that's when you get to a little bit more difficulty setting difficulty range, because I don't think that novice average person would be able to know how to do all of that

@FryedOreo thank you for going down the audio rabbit hole!

Thank you. Thank you. I think I know what you're talking about. Yeah, that's what I was thinking, because like when I used to do my podcast on Anchor, it was you could do it from the phone, but I couldn't manage to hear myself. And then to me, because I'm not that advanced. Trying to edit an anchor or any little thing is very difficult

Yo Brosky. Thanks you podcast OG. This is great, man. This is another resource, man. You guys are spitting out these resources out here, man. Keep it going, man. This type of stuff should be like a group, like a swell group. Maybe you should start it because I haven't heard a swell like this. This is actually kind of dope and informative. Thanks bro, for this

An example of what I was speaking about. @realbriggster

I'm able to demo the sound and tweak it as desired. So then when I do end up recording, I already know what the feedback would be. I already know what the sound would be because I've heard it prior, but yeah, what you showed is a good example, but also too. It all depends on your system set up. So if you got a computer, it would be even easier to do

I’m listening!

Thank you for all these incredible information Nuggets. I have been collecting them. I've been listening very carefully. I wish that swell would allow somehow to hook up to maybe a PC where you could use an audio interface. That would be amazing, I think, especially for my staff, because it's all music, and I really want to be able to feature that and have it sound good

Continue making great work out here! @JLMcMillan

But at the moment, yes, I'm just recording on my phone. No fancy equipment. But later on I do plan to do a bit more in that space in terms of audio gear and whatnot. But thank you so much, Jessica, for responding. And yeah, I might make more of a series. I'm trying to think, how can I do that?

Thanks for the generosity!

Hi Dewuan, thank you so much for that. It's actually nice to get a bit of feedback since I'm fairly new and, you know, you just don't know how you're doing. Sometimes there aren't a lot of responses and other times there are. But anyway, I really appreciate it. And I really enjoy your posts too. Not just the information dispensation, but I do thank you for that. And I'm definitely on board if you have any sort of tutorial
