Is Popularity Right?

article image placeholderUploaded by @FryedOreo
And with social media, a lot of people seem to hate Kim Kardashian, right? Or not like her, as many jokes tossed about her in her body and augmentation. But yet she is one of the leaders in social media as a social influencer who is making loads of cash at the expense of even black culture. Popularity, to some degree is true. There is value in it. It can bring awareness to a cause, and without it, no one will ever know about the cause

Is it the ulitmate currency of wealth?

And then there's the other level of you don't necessarily have to be popular, but do you have enough money? I remember being a debutante I forgot the term they use for the lead. They had debutante, but generally her father had a larger checkbook than most of our parents, so he donated a boatload of money to the program and she was in that position. At least that's what we say

So personally, I think it's not about being good or because as you said and borrowing from what you said again, it doesn't necessarily mean only good things will be popular also bad things will be popular and also I like to bring something out. For example, I come from Kenya, Africa and before sometime in the past, a lot of what was popular was based on morality and ethics, right?

The value of Presence

It affects the front pages of newspapers, what's on the top of the news and what probably scrolls by you if you use social media as your touchs point for reality. That's my thought. And for this moment in time you've been present with me, Dewuan. So thanks for sharing. Now it's time for coffee. Bye for now

Let's say, for instance, if I woke up tomorrow and I had 100 million followers, my life would change. It would. Brands would want to endorse me. Why? Has nothing to do with the skill or talent I have. It's that I'm popular and there is numbers to show. Celebrities will talk to me more if I commented on a post of a celebrity with that blue check mark, they would actually notice it, as opposed to me being a civilian

Now, coca Cola cans, Coca Cola bottles, as well as old Apple desktops and CPUs are in landfills right now, doing nothing good for the environment. But it's popular. They take into these habits of being more eco friendly because it's popular, and popularity also keeps money in their pockets. Or if you're a company that's seen to do good by the environment, more people want to put money into your brand

At some point in time, you're going to want to initiate something yourself and in turn you will be seeking some form of popularity. But of course, for the average person, you're probably at the most going to get a viral posts than a community app such as Swell or something along those lines. And that'll be it's what you tell your grandkids. But anyway, Bernie, thank you for taking the time to listen and hopefully you enjoyed your cup of joe
