Is Rambling An Art?

article image placeholderUploaded by @FryedOreo
It's not as tailor made, it's not as scripted, it's not as perfect. Right. But there is something to be said about you still speaking when you're not as confident in the information that you are relaying. I feel there can be a lot that you can learn from someone in how they ramble or even if they ever ramble. But what are your thoughts? Is rambling useless to you and should be avoided at all cost?

Or Is It Pointless?

Sure, but context matters

And it's an interesting case when we come to a podcast and B, Social Audio, because podcasts are by and large, free. So are you expecting something to be polished? I think in some cases you are, especially if you're listening to someone for content, right? There are all these self improvement things or business entrepreneur help or whatever topic you want to learn about. You're expecting something that is put together, unless, of course, again, comedians are doing it

And like you, Tim, I tend to choose social audio as a means to experiment and play. So I'm not only using 64 colors in the Crayon box, we're combining those colors to make new colors. And we're coloring on different types of fabric. We're seeing what could happen if we use this particular white on this particular fonta, black type of black. We want to see how it will look. We want to play, we want to have fun

I love rambling. I love ranting. I love real s***. When I sit down to try to create anything and it's overly structured or has a very black and white intention, I'm usually, like, not in it. Like, it becomes robotic, boring and informative. And I guess I don't want to be informative. I think I want to be more playful. I want to be more entertaining

Bella, thank you for taking the Tim, not only to listen to the Swell, but to also offer an audio response. Yeah, I'm right there with you. In particular, when it comes to podcast, or in this case social audio here on Swell, I do tend to find that those that need that perfect execution of thoughts relate and audio can be a bit man. It's okay, it's cool. It's obviously a community for that sort of thing out there

If you're doing it with people that you make a lot of jokes with, then probably the rambling could be bordering on doing a bit and committing to the bit or rambling, because someone's asking you a bunch of questions. The rambling could just be I mean, you're asking the questions and I'm giving the answers, but I never claimed that I had an immediate that I was right. It's like there's no claim of yes or no

Rambling can be an art in the sense that it's improv, right? You're basically freestyling. But Rambling makes for great conversations, like more organic, more casual. And you connect more when someone Rambles because you feel like, this person trusts me enough to share this with me and be their authentic selves with me. And it makes you feel honored because someone is comfortable enough to be that way with you. So, like, art helps you connect with people. So does Rambling

It's going off of a certain formula that people can adhere to. Rambling on Swell, to me, it's like classical music. There's just something amazing about it that is very energetic. It's so amazing to me, too, that this post got more legs based upon someone who had not even responded to me, but responded to somebody else on the thread, and that got it to bump up enough to where it got recognition once more

That's pretty amazing to turn a negative experience into a positive discussion!

That's pretty impressive, the way you took something which was so negative and could affect people personally and you properly rationalized it and analyzed the topic and ultimately made it as well, which turned out to be an Editor's Picks. I mean, maybe it was the rambling that got you all this way and that was interesting. The way you call a rambling classical music. I am not sure if I get the analogy a lot. Like, why particularly classical music?

It's always fascinating when you can get a person, especially a person who's not comfortable rambling to get outside of their element and whether that be in a matter of them speaking or in the matter of them listening to an individual. As I was stating, I do remember exactly the individual who had said what they had said about my style. I don't know if it was necessarily addressed directly to me, but it did feel it was talking about me

So I think it's a short answer, but yes, rambling is useful in some senses versus others. And yes, it is an art, but it is also an art to discern what the rambling is trying to convey. So I think I can also add that rambling is a natural way for us all to process our thoughts

But as you were saying in your profession it can aid actually to you being a better worker and listening to other people's concerns or issues or things that they're just thinking about can give you a great perspective on what needs to be done. Rambling on Swell can be amazing even when a person is out of practice, because at least they took the risk to be vulnerable and open in a world where everyone wants to be fortified strong in Domineering in their points of view

Thank you guys. This is a very interesting discussion that you set us up on. I use rambling sometimes strategically. I won't say it's my goal to come up with something and I'm rambling a bit here, but I'll just share how I use it. So when I'm exploring an idea to explain to others, especially I like to record it on my phone. And if I'm going solo, I tend to ramble a bit because I'm still finding my way through that idea
