"Measure" - Poetry 4/24/23

article image placeholderUploaded by @FromSilence
Measure? What's the measure till it matters? When will it be good enough? What's the point of all this effort? When what comes from it's so rough? Just how far can simple shoulders bear the weight of all this care? And what kind of foolish person and thinks that they can even dare? Why persists when you doubt strongly whether this will ever grow? Go ahead, ask me all these questions. But the truth is I don't know

And yes, this one is negative as well, but it just didn't feel right to share any of them. And I wanted something different. And in between waking up this morning and leaving the house while doing a bunch of chores and accomplishing things for the family, just wrote this one during that time period. So I thank you that I didn't just write a piece of garbage and share it with everyone for no reason. I appreciate that a lot

We have those ebbs and flows, and sometimes our contemplation can and seem a little bit grim. But I think it has its place. And like I said, I really enjoyed it

I appreciate you taking the time to comment on this and your positive construction of it. Part of the reason why I treat it as negative. There's an ongoing discussion here with a couple of people that I know on swell regarding my set of standards for myself. And as I actually wrote it out to somebody recently, the common term is impostor syndrome. And impostor syndrome is something that's very common among artistic people and creative people. But calling it impostor syndrome means that it is false to me

First and foremost, you committed to write. I started strong this month and then just stopped writing, you know, because of exactly what you said. Like, I find myself writing about the same things over and over again, and I want a new narrative, so I stopped writing so that I can allow time for that to happen. But no, I appreciate your words, always. Thank you for sharing

If you looked at your writing this month and said, I don't like this narrative, I want to change, then that's something you're doing for yourself, and it's valuable at the same time, and it's going to give something that is better because you're building something different and not just more of the same. You won't have to look back and have the disappointment of how many poems in the same theme am I going to have?

It's mad respect. And no, like, I guess I'm doing the opposite. For once in my life, I am just letting myself chill. But it's like, no, you should be doing more. Like, you should be creating more. You should be
