Mind-body connections and Amazonian plant medicine

With that being said, I haven't tried Auasca but I have been trying to deepen my understanding of it recently as I Ave stated and I've only read one book right now and that was A Fellowship of the river by Dr. Joseph Taffer and he's a Colombian American who became a Western medical doctor and found himself basically struggling with his mental health and he sought other methods for that because he wasn't getting any answers from traditional medicine because it was actually affecting his physical body as that happens to a lot of people

How many of our illnesses have an underlying emo/spiritual wound?TW: brief mention of sexual trauma. (The Fellowship of the River by Joseph Tafur, MD)

Delayed lil preface (:

I just realized I totally should have prefaced this with, this is not for everyone, particularly. It is at this time not recommended for people who have illnesses such as schizophrenia or bipolar, bipolar disorder, anything in that type of category. I also wanted to add that I think it is so amazing that this medicine has been around for the time that it has. And it's not just one ingredient. It's not just like, they put an ayahuasca vine in a tea

I will say for anybody that does decide to explore these in my eyes medicines or some people's eyes drugs, as far as like LSD and psilocybin, I would definitely say go to a site such as Dancesafe.com and order a testing kit as I did. You never know. And I Ave had stuff come back that wasn't what it was and I'm grateful that I chose to be saved about it

So anyways, I'm so excited and nervous. So many emotions about going to figure out where the sale has resided from. I've also struggled with self expression for my whole life, pretty much. So I think there's definitely some throat shocker blockages

There Ave two ways of looking at it. Right. It's really interesting how it's been suppressed. There Ave time tested practices of dealing with depression and sadness and reconciling with trauma in many cultures around the world using psychedelics. Right. Or psychedelic practices because that could be through dancing all night and not sleeping or fasting. And all these different things can also induce experiences. Right. So I think that's really interesting to think about

And then I think my favorite part was the way he ended the speech saying that the opposite of addiction is not sobriety. The opposite of addiction is connection. And I think that piece is so important because so many addicts are just ostracized and keep on keeping on, you know, with what they're doing. And also you brought up the point about play being healing. I love that so much. I never really thought about it that way

So what you find is this compound in some of these plants called what we now know as LSA, in which many Indigenous folks had this as a ritual practice, part of ceremonial spiritual practices. It's reported by people today that once these kinds of chemicals are consumed, that the concept of being separate from nature kind of goes away. There is this interconnectivity that is experienced with the conquistadors Ave having trouble with if they were having trouble indoctrinating the local populations under Christianity

Thank you for grounding me back to something that is very important. And I do believe that the book mentioned that. But I don't know. I'm going to have to go back and read read it again and figure out what the take was there. Also, with that being said, and all the dark history of Christianity, perhaps it is best with the history of our society

Hi, Finley. I do like to read quite a bit and in lots of different types of material, too. It's kind of a spiritual practice for me of of regaining ancestral memory. Part of that has to do with a lot of reading about the experiences of women or people who Ave been presenting living in a world where they feel like they're consistently being imposed upon. So I want to honor that
