I'm a white coward, how do I do what is right?

So Hello, everyone. This is my first one. And sorry if it's a little bumpy. I've been in my own head quite a bit lately about injustice that we're seeing a lot of folks in the black community and in general, people of color, gender identity and sexuality, a number of different things. And I'm the first to say that I am or I think the correct way of saying is I present as a CIS, straight white dude

Based on my experiences I have a lot of trauma about white people I am a white person. How do I fight through this to stand up for injustice?

🙏🏼

I think if you lived in a place that was filled with more like minded people, and I think that we're kind of arriving at this time in US history, in particular, that it really is kind of indicating that we're experiencing a very serious cultural and psychological divide between a lot of people in our population here. You have those who grew up in more rural, conservative areas. You have those that did not, and the divide between the two couldn't possibly be any larger

And so if you've experienced trauma, if you have any semblance of PTSD or something like that, well, of course, this is how things are going to be. None of us would expect someone who came back with true PTSD that was triggered by a moment and they're melting down or whatever. Nobody would expect any kind of heroics out of them in that moment. But again, you're not here to be the savior of the world, man

More clarification

And if they do, then it gets very scary and very bloody usually is what I've seen. Obviously, this triggers the old trauma. And one thing I know about people who don't have much is they don't have any reason to worry about not doing the thing you think nobody else would do, because what else do they have to lose? I appreciate both of you saying, like, don't be so hard on yourself, and it's not really that it's more

My thoughts.

I've never had a problem where I've been arrested and anything of that nature. So most of the stuff I see is on TV. A lot of the times just probably like you or on social media. And the George Floyd thing happened here in my state of Minnesota. It actually was maybe ten blocks from where I work. Now the inciting incident, and I think what you're going through here is probably white guilt

Many factors. @faubs_orchy

If we picked you up and take you out of Oregon and we put you in a very Liberal city and you saw something, I think you'd be more likely to step forward than you are in your hometown. But that's just my thoughts

Part 1 response ❤️

When we are able to not pretend and actually say it, society, our families, or how our values grew up make it seem we tend to feel like we have to a certain way or we're weak if we are honest with how we really feel. So I appreciate that very much. So I always say I appreciate someone that could admit something because then we can get somewhere as far as what you're feeling and you want to know how to deal with it or not be a coward

And then I think once you handle that, you can look at everything else clear, if that makes any sense, because I think it's more than just supporting black lives and this and that I really listened to what you were saying about the trauma, how you're traumatized and what you saw. And I can't say I identified. But I felt like I completely understood because this world that we live in isn't like this black and white. You know what I mean?

Ok I'm finished now....❤️great swell!!!

I'm so sorry. My touchscreen second earphones is rubbed against the screen, and it ended my part. Two makes me mad, but, yeah, this is that. That's where I sit from. It from it all. Just try that. Focus in on that because I think it's more than just about what everyone else was saying, even though all of it was valid. I really think it comes down to you getting right. Whatever you need to get right with in you
