Unfair treatment of fathers and thr court system

We have read about many cases in terms of famous people, famous men that were involved in child support, visitation and custody cases. Men like former NBA superstar Dwayne Wade, 50 cent, the hip hop star and also entrepreneur. And I just want to know, why do you think fathers are treated so unfairly in the court system?

And I'd love to hear more about that because that would help the conversation move forward. But I think like any situation in the courts which don't think that the system is very consistent and fair, so I think a lot of people get treated unfairly. But in this situation, I'd be interested to see what you're referring to specifically. Or if you're just looking at celebrity headlines, that's one thing

For 20 years, I was the head of a program named Follows with Voices. If you Google my name, they will probably show you some information about it. And what the program was about was basically providing consultation, coaching, referrals resources for separating and divorced fathers. And I got to see firsthand how men were mistreated in the court system, not only the court system, but also by their own attorneys. I too also had to advocate for my daughter when she was two years old

We have to do a better job for the children. So hopefully with a word or two here, you would check out Burning America and The Best Interests of the Children, a novel that I wrote because it tells you a typical story of a good father doing the best he can and a primary caregiver walked into court and it really didn't matter. And also, on the aftermath, we have experts who are trying to help people and improve the system. Good question. Good thought

Thank you for the topic. I have a lot of thoughts on this. I was raised by my father and he had to fight the court system. So my first question is what state were you in? If that matters. But I really do think that it matters. I recently spent time in the Midwest and fathers have no rights in the state that I was in. Like, they have pretty much zero rights

Well, thank you for responding. I hope everything as well. I was living in New York City at the time of my case. As far as being the head of internationally recognized Fatherhood program, I help men all over the United States, and I would have to say the south, where I ended up unfortunately moving in 2005, is terrible out here in the south, incompetent lawyers. The lawyers are basically working with everybody. They work with each other

But no, I appreciate your response, and I know it's a worldwide well, yeah, it could be a worldwide thing, but I know it's like a statewide thing. Like, it's all over the US. But I I know that certain parts of the US. Are definitely worse than others, so thank you for sharing your experience in the South

I got to keep it 100. I think part of the reason is because historically, men have not been around to provide financially for their children nor have been present in their lives. It's something that my father talks about as it relates to his own father and how out. My grandmother had to take my grandfather to court for child support because she needed the money. And it's easier for men to walk away when they don't have that burden of responsibility, and they often do

Me, we're looking for trying to use my fatherhood program as kind of like a get out of jail free card. In other words, they were trying to use my program as a way for us to give them ways of how to escape child support. So I'm kind of glad that I got out of it. I don't know what the situation is like because I haven't done it in about 8100 years

So fathers and mothers, I always say, I think family court in general, we're in a family court crisis right now, and I'm very sorry you are going through it, because we're really walking in there, and they're ripping the constitution up in our face. In my case, my child's father was arrested for domestic violence. I'm sure you don't have a record, or I'm sure you don't have anything that could stop you from seeing your child
