Prayers for Damar Hamlin

article image placeholderUploaded by @EricG
I hope that he's going to be okay, and I just wanted to share my thoughts on that. We all love sports, but we don't want to see anybody we don't hate to see people seriously injured or worse. We wouldn't wish that on our own families or ourselves, for that matter. Anyway, my prayers go out to DeMar and his mother and his family. Thanks

If somebody was getting the paddles in the game, that would definitely explain it. And I saw the replay, and he got hit very hard in the chest. And I know from other sports and I know from just education that when you get hit hard in the chest like that, that can trigger a cardiac event. And it looks like that's what happened. And I'm already seeing things on social media where people are starting to question the COVID vaccine and how that played a part

What will the fallout and reaction be?

So I'm really kind of wondering what the NFL is going to do here. Hoping they do the right thing. And I don't even know what that right thing is. It's just a very unfortunate situation

But then it begs the question, well, what's the league really doing to make sure that, A, this sort of thing is avoided like the plague, but B, when it does happen, the right steps are taken. And it looks like yesterday protocol was followed, but the conversation is now going to shift to this can't happen again. We need to do everything that we can to prevent it from happening. And the NFL is an organization that has a bad track record with this stuff

Americans have been playing this game since 1920. That's 103 years now. I don't think the solution is better gear necessarily. The gear is about as good as it's going to get. I think the changes that need to be made are doing the right thing with regard to player safety and educating the players to be very aware of what you're doing is you're running to tackle someone

And even though they've made rules like no helmet to helmet hits the game just happens so fast that even if you're trying to do the right thing and tackle the right way, all somebody else has to do is just lean their head a different way or tuck their head in a different direction and all of a sudden, that innocent hit becomes a bad, bad injury and a nasty tackle
