Normalize Leaving Voicemails Again!

article image placeholderUploaded by @EnLaBocaDelLobo
Hello, this is Marco. I can't come to the phone right now, so please leave me a message. I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Thank you. Remember that? Remember what it felt like to leave somebody a voicemail, waiting for that tone to see what you're going to say? Well, that seems so old school now, at least to me. I don't think I get that many voicemails from people in my circle. Friends, co workers

Hey, Marco, this is Bill from the old guy channel, and we're just trying to call you to talk to you about your extended warranty. I'm sure that your vehicle that you have is in needing it, so please give us a call back so we can charge you a buku dollars for your extended warranty. Hey, I leave voicemails, texts and emails all day long

I want to say around the same time that I started doing social audio in one form or another, I switched to using apps that allowed me to either text and or leave voice messages. And so it became a normalized thing for me. But what I really appreciate about those apps, instead of leaving a voice message on a phone, is that there still seems to be this care carry over of expectation when you leave a voicemail on the phone that you must respond

Imagine if I had to type everything that I'm telling you right now in order for you and I to communicate like a post on Facebook or Instagram, and now you have to read that to me, that's a lot less efficient versus what we're doing right now. Also swell. I think why it's so successful is because people are kind of trying to get back to having some sort of connection or more meaningful connection with other people

So that's the reason why I do that. Now if they reply back and say, oh, I'm just sitting at my desk, I'm doing whatever. Okay, now you can draw and call them and talk to them on the phone. So really, how we use technology and whether or not we leave voicemails is really dependent on a lot of things. It's kind of subjective

Hey there. You know, I just got to say, wow, your message really impacted me deeply because I think as a society, we have lost the art of leaving messages and calling. And I'm going to speak for myself. I am kind of a textaholic and it's really bad and I don't know what made us it kind of makes you shy away from wanting to leave a message

It used to be expensive as well, and then eventually it became everything was all limited, so there's really no limit on texting. And I think that's when the switch happened, as technology got better, cell phones got better, and now you did not have a limit on minutes or you didn't have to call

Bill. This is hilarious. I am driving home, kind of catching up on the swells, and I just heard your voicemail, your swell slash voicemail, and you just cracked me up. And they have called me about my vehicle. Standard warranty. It's got my four little cars, 131,000 miles. So I'm well over the extended warranty as well. I need double extended warranty, if that's the thing. But yeah, exactly what you said

Sometimes it's more convenient depending on where you're at. I like, I love to text, but I'm like, but why would just because we've been introduced to texting, would we lose our love for voice messages? Yeah, it's kind of creepy, but I'm going to work on that because I know I have an issue with it and I don't like it. And I've actually missed a lot of important events because of it

But otherwise, nobody leaves voicemails anymore other than the standard from the doctor's office and this, that, and the other thing. So what are you going to do? But I think it is a great topic and it's what we've done as a society

Hey, Liones. I had to answer this reply to this leave you a voicemail. Yes, definitely agree. We all need to be better interconnected. People are texting all the time and sometimes it's just nice to hear somebody else's voice and talk to them. Have a great day. I thought that was a great reply to Amarco as well

Hey, Marco, honeyvee. Here. Thanks for inviting me to this discussion. Fortunately unfortunately, my friends and family get voice messages from me specifically in group chats. I love to send voice messages instead of texting. Sometimes I feel like you're not going to get the joke. You're not going to get at the dictation of what I'm trying to say in a computer mediated communication like text. So a lot of the times I'll just leave them a voice message

Sometimes there wasn't even, hey, it's so and so, leave me a voicemail with the music in the background. Sometimes it was just a song and you would just hear the song
