Question of the day: Best advice to recover after sickness in the gym? I’ve been out of the gym for a week and my first day back, I could tell.

I've been not able to go and work out for over a week now. And I can tell that there is definite muscle loss, there's weight loss, there's overall weakness, and it's hard to get that motivation back and start going to the gym as often as I used to because I know that I am nowhere near where I should be and where I was. And so my question is, how do you get back on that mentality?

Begin slow

Hey, Emma. This is Ian. I'm so sorry to hear about your ailment. I hope you are feeling much better. Now, I think to get started, the simple thing to do is to do very small tiny bit of muscle loosening exercises right at the top of the day. It could be just simple stretches. At home, you might not even need to step out because you clearly have worked out before and so there will be a muscle memory

So depending on where the client is or the athlete is, we look at where they need, you know, where are we starting the training? If you're starting from, say in the honest, like you, you've had, you know, you've not been too well, then we will start a bit beginning of a twelve week, phase one, phase twelve weeks and you start very lightly where the conditioning is concerned. We use heart rate monitors and different methods of training

I mean, I'm in London, but I love watching somebody say, for instance, training in Arizona where it's sunny and, you know, make it just makes me want to sort of delve into that world. Or I watch Sorry up in the street trying to move away from the Lord. I watch a podcast, listen to a podcast and listen to something that's going to get me interested in, okay, let's begin to clean up my diet. Let's begin to start training
