A doctors face off with covid-19. A personal account!

We have to keep a positive attitude and practice deep breathing. Our focus should always remain on our breathing along with the positive attitude and gratitude towards the health workers. It helps us a lot. On 27 May I was shifted out of the ICU in the wards. You have to do lung physiotherapy. You have to do the exercises as advised by the physiotherapist and also do deep breathing exercises by a device called the spirometer

Dr. Vijay, thank you so much for sharing your story on Swell and also thank you for helping so many young moms to be who are also battling COVID and at such an important time when they are due. And you have also taken the risk and actually had to fight the virus at a personal level. And your story is just so inspiring

Thank you for sharing your journey of recovery. Much gratitude!

So your very detailed narration of what actually happens when you test positive for the virus has really helped lay some of my fears all the more so because we have a lot of information and horror stories doing the rounds, but none of them are from credible sources. And your personal experience that you shared here was very illuminating, and it made me get a clearer picture of what exactly to expect when a person tests positive and that it is not the end of the world

Thank you!

So it was almost a whole month from where you contracted it until walking out of the hospital. So it's a long time. But any more detail about the onset and how you really felt and when you actually knew you were sick, was it that May 15, when the sore throat developed? I'd love any more information because I don't interact anybody that has had it. And I just have all these kinds of questions of when you actually know you have it

Covid 19 symptoms

I was admitted around the 20 May 2020 and I was there in the ICU for around ten days in the ICU where I was put upon oxygen and all the other drugs were started. There was something which is called non invasive ventilation, where they put you on high flow nasal oxygen, which is around 40 meters/minute. So this fed for around ten days. And after that I was kept in the wards and gradually I came out of the word. So yes, you are right

And Sean Korea, especially, is very good. It has helped me also deal with the stress levels to a great extent. I want to know from you what you have been following and would like to really work on that. Also, I wanted to know if you have been practicing breathing techniques and meditation much before you actually contacted COVID or is it something that you've started doing after you contacted the infection as part of your rehabilitation regime, waiting for your answer on this? Thank you

Hi Doctor. Thank you so much for the detailed response. And that really helps understand a little bit more about it. And as Srija asked, she kind of stole some of my questions in there of follow up. I'd like to know I second her questions there and Additionally, just curious if you've noticed any kind of lingering effects going on. I and whether you also just kind of have a deeper awareness or more in tune with your body since then. Thank you
