By putting these labels on these movies that we enjoy, we can't be criticized because we're self aware we know that these movies aren't anything more than just a guilty pleasure or a chip flick, something that I watch because it's comforting, not because it's an actual good movie. It's not The Godfather or anything like that. So nobody can criticize me for enjoying it because I know that it's not a great movie

And so when it's not a grand theme and it's just silliness, that's just my way of calling attention to it. But I really agree. Why not just simply enjoy it? No strings attached for the chick flick I have some real issues with because it's really denigrating to women. And it's basically labeling a movie as all of those qualities that are stereotyped in a woman as emotional, for example. And so that label really needs to go. But anyway, your thoughts are fantastic
