How Do You Feel About Music Videos Becoming Short Films?

article image placeholderUploaded by @Dominique
Some people may not consider music videos to be short films, but I disagree. I think music videos are exactly what short films are. They have to tell a story, usually in three or four minutes long, and they have to make it make sense to the audience and be able to tell the entire story in just such a short amount of time. I think music videos have always been short films. It's just that artists are finally calling on that. Let me know how you feel about this

I don't know if you're that old to remember TRL, but yeah, they basically diced up these videos even smaller than what they were just to fit within their program. But it's giving them license to do something artistic. I guess I'm biased, but I don't really watch music videos anymore. That's like something I remember from my youth. I would rather just hear the song. And now the experience of being able to see the artists in their Instagram feed

Purpose of videos have changed

I know I do that. And so you go and you look it up. And maybe you're wanting to savor that from an artist. So maybe, like, appealing to audience, the medium is kind of changed, too, that the purpose of music videos have evolved
