Eating Disorders: Social Media, Mental Health, Nutrition

article image placeholderUploaded by @diyasabs
There are many types of eating disorders, anorexia orthorexia binge eating bulimia and more, and these are not as uncommon as you might think. People I know have had it. People you know could have had it. We force ourselves to be liked by the rest of the world. We ruined ourselves in the process. We want to be so accepted. We don't accept ourselves. A friend of mine had authored she had seen all that girl trends and started being unhealthily obsessed with eating healthy

I was inspired by my school to talk about this on Swell. Please share your thoughts as well! 😊

It's when other things come into play with the behaviors of the mental health with the risky behaviors that some of which you described. Some people can literally live off nearly nothing and not lose so much weight because we also have a thing called set point. So one thing that I just wanted to mention around nutrition is that, yes, nutrition is very important. Nutrition is actually very different, depending on different people having a rigid prescribed thing

@NLOFrank. Response regarding Genetics, Diet & Metabolism

And one of the things that I learned about was the general population is not aware of the fact that you can't really apply a diet to the general population because of the point that you made that everybody is not genetically the same. There are some people out there that can thrive off sugar and eat nothing but sugar and not gain weight. Then there are people who will have a teaspoon of sugar and gain weight

I do lose a dramatic amount of weight, so I freak out when people tell me that they're going on carb restrictive diets. However, for some people that works for my mum, for example, who has diabetes and all sorts of other things, having too many carbs is actually destructive to her body anyway and does cause excess weight gain. So she's dramatically small amount of carbs compared to me

Hi. Thank you so much for talking about BMI and stuff. I kind of knew about that, but I didn't know it stemmed from racism and stuff. So thank you for educating me on that. And your points were, like, valid. And thanks for adding to this conversation in general, it was very educational. Thank you
