Are beauty pageants actually empowering?

article image placeholderUploaded by @diyapatel264
So it's fantastic that Nicole Johnson could educate masses about diabetes through beauty pageants. On the other hand, there are many problems with beauty pageants, too. For one, I feel like it's too cookie cutter shaped. I mean, most of the participants look the same in size or height, though I have to say, over the years, the diversity in color and countries has improved tremendously. The swimsuit part still feels a little odd

I guess there are pros and cons to everything. I am glad to see that there are a lot of improvements. #beautypageants #beauty #modeling #missuniverse

Suuper interesting diya loved the swell^^

Wow. This is super interesting to listen to, and it's a great topic you brought up. Now, the positive aspects of beauty pageants that you mentioned are simply from the identities of the competitors themselves, not the actual structure of the beauty pageant. Things like standing out or having something about you that's different, like a disability or something is not exactly encouraged. Obviously, it differs from pageant to pageant, country to country, what type of traditions they have with it

I'm perfect, I'm beautiful. Gag. No, they're not all like that. There might be a small majority that are there and solely going, I'm going to win based on my looks. Well, if you have looks and no substance, you're not going to win, sweetheart. Sorry, I kind of go off tangent, but yeah. So patents, they can actually be very beneficial to women of all ages, of all sizes, of all nationalities, of all perspectives
