What Does This Song Evoke Within You?

article image placeholderOn the Nature of Daylight
You. Different songs mean different things to different people. When we hear music, whether it be jazz, gospel, classical, contemporary, Christian, rock, the, or whatever it might be, it sometimes evokes emotion within us. It brings us back to a place or to a person or to an event, a situation or circumstance, a smell, a scent, a color, a drawing, a walk in the park, a fishing expedition. It brings us back to different places

But then when it started to pick up, I thought, okay, for me, and I wasn't sure if it was going to do it, but it did at the end, I thought, this is going to be the rise and fall of the sun and everything in between. So it's going to sound odd, but I'm just going to give it to you

To me it was full of vibrancy and full of exhilaration and expectation, but all in a different way. Not the conventional way, but a totally different way. Because sometimes we expect music that is conveying excitement or something like that to be major and sound loud and be energetic, but sometimes it's not like that. And so in listening to this song, I played it several times actually

But let's say tendrils of whatever is daylight means to someone. And so then there's this. It's this in between stage of all of those feelings at once. The grief, the sadness of saying goodbye, the longing for and the hope for what comes. And then once sunrise does finish and day has fully arrived, it's almost now like there's a different form of, at least for me, sadness and grief because that moment has gone and now it's full on day

I think I've thought of the language that I want. And this song represents the gradual, liminal space between here and there, whether we're talking like the lead up to Christmas and then the feelings afterward or the lead up. To sunrise and the feelings afterward. Or up to sunset and afterwards, or leading up to vacation and afterwards, holidays, what have you. It's a gradual transition of complexity, of emotions

It's really interesting how we observe or we listen to different things and how we can come out with our unique perspective of what this sound is for us or what this song means to us, or what this musical score says to us. And I don't even know what it's attached to in terms of what movie or whatever it came with. And I didn't even do any research into it at all because I didn't really want to, again have that be why or what I focused on

You. Wow. Thank you so much for sharing this song. It was really lovely. And my initial reflection is that this song invoked in me a lot of peace and just almost instantly took me to another place and brought up some imagery for me, like a sun rising through a meadow and a beautiful landscape. And it's interesting to recognize how certain sounds, certain frequencies can invoke this type of imagery. So that's just where my mind and my heart went

I really like that you didn't let the title influence you. It was sort of accidental. I saw Max Richter's name and I was like, OOH. And when I clicked on it, then I recognized the song, and I was like and then my eyes wandered and I saw the title. I don't know what movie it's from either. Most of my cinematic scores are from things either I haven't seen or if I have seen

Hey, that would be another question to ask regarding, like, you know, sci-fi in terms of, you know, Picard, Discovery, Star Trek, you know, and the different other, you know, sci-fi movies or or series and which ones people like. Most and even in terms of the musical scores that they play within these or prior to or during these particular series or movies or shows, which ones stand out that people listen to? I just thought about that

Or you understand, or sometimes I understand that when a particular event is happening or something's going on in my life, that I can actually go to that particular score of music or that particular song. And it allows me to be in that place of peace, that place of contentment or that place of energy and just feeling very good and pleasant

You just said what I was trying to say, and you did it so descriptively. Yes, that's what I meant. What she said
