It's really a spirituality driven talk show hosted by a few different people, which they just talk about living under the Grace of God. And I find it very interesting how certain situations can be approached from a very spiritual mindset. And yeah, we'll get into that. But for now, Dominic, I want to know I know what brought you to Chico, but I want to know what brought you to Chico State? What made you choose to study at Chico

I don't know if I've said it, but I'm going to use this opportunity now to say that you definitely played a major part in me graduating the first time. So yeah, I finished in 2014 and then I decided in 2020 to get my master's degree. The program was offered through. At the time, I was working for Children's Services, which is known as CPS, and I applied, I got in and I'll be graduating in May

Alright, Don. Thank you. I appreciate that little kudos. I never really saw it as that helping you through College in that sort of way, but that's really cool to kind of look back on and just remember like, oh yeah, I did have we definitely spent a lot of time together because you needed that and I'm glad I could help you with that support. So, yeah, moving on

But as a social worker, we're supposed to be able to recognize those difficulties and then make the appropriate adjustments to benefit our clients of color. So, yeah, ultimately, I do want to teach. And right now, the position that I'm holding as an EOP adviser, I was told that I will be able to teach with this title. So, yeah, I'm looking forward to that. I'm looking forward to going back to grading papers and putting smiley faces and stickers on papers

Okay, great. That is something really necessary to hear is that you kind of forget your initial spark and, like, where that came from and how you can cultivate that into your actual career dreams and goals. So I'm proud of you. I'm glad that kind of is where you're headed and you're pretty much already living out your dreams. Always good to hear that

So I'm very adamant about sharing that, too. We're supposed to love walking faith and being kind and loving one another is what I'm really about. I think I answered your question

And I think as far as holding the power in our hands to our destiny and following a certain faith, speaking what you seek is definitely the best way you can feel as though you have some control, because things are a lot of the times out of our control and hard to understand. And like you said, when you're going through rough times, it's hard to kind of see what you're supposed to learn out of it

I I knew that needed to stop playing around and partying and all that, because I was responsible for someone. And it still shows now. Like in my grad program, my GPA is three point 97. My family just really shifted my mind frame to take life serious and to really go after my goals so that in turn, they have a better life

Alright, perfect. I love hearing the exceptions. A lot of people do say that once you have a kid and you're in College or something, you end up having to drop out because the increased responsibility and the bandiness of a baby. But I'm glad to see that that only drove you to do better and make sure that you have a stable foundation to raise your kids upon. And that is super mature

Well, the study initially came about because I was researching it and not able to find anything specific to black human service workers in rural communities. So the biggest point of me doing it is so that the next person, student whomever who comes behind me wants to research this topic will find something. And my hope is that the research will be published so that they'll find something with my name on it

THANK YOU 🎆🎇

Oh, thanks for that. I really appreciate it. Vocalizing how proud you are. Someone is something that our family does not do very often. So thank you so much. It means a lot to me. I'm excited for the future, excited for this research to come out. I will be one of the first people to read it because it's very interesting
