Selfies! Are we all narcissists?

article image placeholderUploaded by @DearAuntyAng
And I'm like, whoa, a lot of the social media, Facebook, and of course IG because IG started as pictures, right? It is all about, look at me, look at me. Look at what I'm wearing. Look at how good I look. Look at how much weight I lost. Look at this man or woman that's on my arm. Look how cute my kids are. Look at this car

Is selfie- culture convenient or downright narcissistic?

They share those small accomplishments that they make at home by just setting that bed right or just by tucking in the bed sheet perfectly according to them or just by cleaning their house, getting through that one day because that is achievement to them. And this is socializing, this is virtual socializing to me and I don't think there is anything wrong in it. Of course there is a balance that we all need to maintain

And ironically, it seemed like people that do put selfies out there, more so like themselves, whether it's self portrait or whatever, that could be about them in the picture, what happens a lot of time, if they don't get that validation, then they delete it and they put something else up. So it's almost like getting a daily fix

I can say personally, for me, I have made friends on social media. Some of the validation, it doesn't mean much. People will like your picture. They'll even say you're beautiful and you never talk to them again. But I've actually made friends and connections on Facebook

You. Hey there, brother. Al. Always good to hear from you. Thank you for your perspective on that. I'm interesting. I'm curious to know because you said that you have pretty much your social media pages kind of show your work and maybe you go into the gym and it's not too personal. I've always wondered about those kind of pages because I do get personal online

I just got to get it out there, got to get a story out there and things like that. Even concerts, everyone's going live from a concert. I'm old enough to remember when you were not allowed to record a concert, it was illegal to record concerts. Now there's no way they can stop it. So everyone goes live from the show. First of all, you're not enjoying the show because you're going live

But again, I like this platform a lot more because I'm not necessarily putting everything out, but more so just conversation and communication to get people to open up as well as getting me to open up as well. It's not like I have to show everything. And every so often, based on what the swell cast is, I take one of my pictures out of my phone and like, all right, let me just throw that out there

I don't know if Informationalist is a word, but I love information. And so this particular platform is chock full of information because people are sharing their thoughts about sharing their thoughts and ideas. And that's pretty dope to me. So thank you so much for, as always, contributing. Appreciate

You, Auntie Ann, jack Cosby here, as always, say, stay blessed and keep inspiring. Yeah, it's my pleasure to answer that question the best way that I could, and I like that word you made. Informationalists and conversationalists, I mean, those can actually be made up words that you can get away with. So, I mean, it actually makes perfect sense to me

Hey, Auntie Ange. I think we have become selfie obsessed as a culture. The Bible speaks of that. The Bible speaks that in the last days, that men will become lovers of themselves. And I think that is what we're seeing is that people are becoming lovers of themselves. I have friends that post selfies every day or every other day. I see at least three to four selfies of them per week, maybe more
