If email doesn’t get your point across…just pick up the phone!

But in this particular field I've seen it work more times than not, where if emails are not being understood by either party, then a phone call or a face to face visit usually clears it up right away. And so why people don't do that, I don't know. Well, no, I take that back. I do know why

So when you're behind that keyboard, I don't know. I just feel like it's a little bit more. Sorry. Somebody called me. Yeah. When there's a keyboard, there's like a barrier. So I feel like that's why I definitely understand why people wouldn't want to get on the phone. But overall, I do see what you're saying for sure. Because wasting time when you could easily just talk it out, it's not. It's counterproductive

And the ability to leave voice notes, like on whatsApp and iPhone is amazing because now I can leave you a message without necessarily picking up the phone and interrupting you. So that's dope. But you said something about email. You mentioned something about perception, and that's the key that I think people forget. If you're in a bad mood, then you're going to read an email differently than if you were in a good mood

And it's time for us to just verbally communicate what we are trying to say so that everybody's not getting confused, so that we're not blowing up everybody's email all day long with something that may not even concern them. But yet we keep dragging this on and on and on because folks don't want to pick up a phone. Pick up a phone. I'm going to do it. I'm going to pick up the phone

Sometimes I'll be typing an email to people. First email right off the rip. And I'm like, how can I really explain this? You know what? Let me just call so and so. I do know I work with one of my bosses at one point. She was not a smart lady. For real, very smart, but not like a people person. Like, not a good communicator beyond introverted. And so that was her mo, email and talking to people face to face

And with the emails, I was going through that today. A manager tried to play dumb and going to say what does f to f mean? And at first I wasn't going to respond and then I responded back and I said, it's the same thing as in person. It means face to face. But you knew that, though. And so then he said, oh, yeah, you can schedule interviews. I know I can because I already scheduled them

Hey, Andrea, thanks for chiming in. And, yeah, I thumbs up everything you said. I can't say more because I'm currently at the JLB, the place to be, the place where everything goes down. But I got your reply. I co sign everything you said and I'll reply later when I'm not being watched by the man

If you don't see forward opportunity at that organization, you're not being tagged for Tanya type of extra projects or promotional projects or promotions. You need to be leaving. And so I held to it, and it served me well for me. I know it doesn't work for everyone, or that's not everyone's philosophy. It served me well
